Looking into buying a 94 Cobra and went to drive it yesterday. The clutch doesnt grab until the very top of the pedal travel, does that mean its on its way out? When it grabbed, it grabbed hard, it didnt slip, pop out of gear or anything. It does have a firewall adjuster, so it may just need to be adjusted, but im not sure. Also, the car will start without pressing the clutch. Just wondering if anyone can provide any insight.

my clutch engages at the top also. you could probably adjust out out if you want.
you other prob is likely to be the clutch safety sw under the dash above the pedal.

Agreed with Cleston.

Adding more slack to the cable (turning the FWA CW) would move the point of engagement down.

You can look under the dash for the CSS being jumped.

Also, I'm not 100% on this but I've heard that clutchs that engage close to the top of the travel tend to wear out extremely fast... A friend of mine had an 01 Cobra and the stock clutch wore out in 25k miles with it engaging all the way at the top.

My guess is that it's caused by excessive slipping since the clutch grabs so high up? Not sure, hopefully someone has more/better information and can help out.

But yes, you just need to adjust the cable.

What brand clutch is it? Many aftermarket clutches have the on/off feel with little feather to them. I've never had any problems with the stock types but my friend has a Zoom Kevlar unit that I find hard to drive because of this.

it's all about the adjustment. mine engages at the top too, but there is a little free play so I know the clutch isn't riding. also as an added plus you can get through the gears quicker because the pedal doesn't need to go as far down.
