Need some clutch recommendations for my '89 Hatch. Car has a 306 with a Vortech V3 putting out 10psi. Never been dynoed, but guessing about 400rwhp. Used mainly for street and cruising and maybe 1 or two times a year at the track. I'd like to stick with what LMR sells. Something that's very streetable but will hold up when occasionally having some fun.

Spec stage 3 or 3+ is a clutch I've used that I know will hold that amount of power without issue. It is pretty streetable, but also kinda grabby. You'll get used to it and learn to ease it through the sweet spot a little more gently. Break in is critical in order to avoid clutch chatter.

But, what transmission do you have? An aggressive clutch with a T5 on any sticky tire is a recipe for a new trans soon.

Having recommended the spec clutches based on personal experience, I would probably experiment with http://promotionpowertrain.com/NEW_FORD_CLUTCH_PAGE.html

These guys built my transmission and helped me get everything set up right. I like Walt's thought process on using the clutch to protect the transmission, and I'd recommend giving him a call to see what he thinks. I'm sure he'd sell you one of his, and my guess is that one of his would be even more streetable while being certain to hold the power you need it to. Most importantly, it'll probably be easier on your transmission.
