Hi guys.

I have a 1993 5.0 GT that is lightly modified and I'm looking for some opinions on what to replace my 10 year old OEM clutch setup with.

I have an Edelbrock Performer intake, ProFlow MAF, 70mm BBK tb, fenderwell mounted K&N, 3.55 gears, catted H pipe and a 2 chamber Flowmaster. I would prefer to stay under $300 for the clutch if possible.

Thanks!

I got the FRPP heavy duty clutch for $165 and I love it. I am not sure if it's still that exact price but it's still under 200 for sure. It grips hard and has good street manners.

yea the King Cobra clutch is relatively cheap and can easily handle the power of your car...i would go with that

Centerforce dual friction would be perfect for your car. Has a very easy pedal feel, but is a lil pricey!!

x 2. This clutch is very durable and doesn't require a lot of pedal effort.

I have had both the King Cobra and Centerforce Stage II (not Dual Friction). I daily drove them both for a couple years each.

The Centerforce gets my vote so far, because of the pedal effort.

Also, there is a difference between a Heavy Duty clutch and a King Cobra clutch. The King Cobra cost around $20 more, but provides a lighter pedal than the HD clutch.

The Centerforce cost about $100 more than the King Cobra.

The pedal effort on the Center Force Dual Friction is much better than the King Cobra. I have had both and have the King Cobra now. Next time I have to replace one I will go with the CF. Both will be alright for your combo as far as holding up, but if you drive this car a lot you will appreciate the CF.

I think with the mods you have done to your car, the KC clutch will be more than adequate. The CF DF clutch is overkill for your car...and its a little expensive as well.

I think your money would be better spent by purchasing the king cobra clutch for about 200 and then spend the rest of the 300 bucks on a nice adjustable quadrant and firewall adjuster and a nice stock cable. That combination will make for a very easy clutch pedal and good action. Plenty of holding strength for the power you are making! And money very smartly spent!!
