Producing your own original design is perfectly acceptable, but copying someone else's work, that they put their time and money into development and the production of the component is nothing more than piracy, which is nothing more than stealing.

What i plan on doing is no different than what companies all over the market are doing, do you think Mustang Plus, Mustang Depot, or Mustang Unlimited, or any other reproduction companies are coming up with theur own design. They simply get a original ford part and then duplicate it, which is not piracy, nor stealing, because Ford still got

Reproducing a part is not quite that easy. It could easily cost $5000 to pay a qualified manufacturer to make left and right specimins, figure out the manufacturing method, and determine all the dimensional and metallugical specs. Making a one off is one thing, manufacturing (reproducing) a product is quite a bit different.

I suspect that Mustangsteve doesn't make all that much from sales of his bracket. Machine time is very expensive and those brackets are milled from billet.

If the market for these brackets is large enough, someone is going to get smart and start casting them in stainless.

I am not so sure i understand what you are saying, i might be wrong but i have seen machines i guess that are in the same family as a CNC machine, and they take the measurements, and get all of the holes, and record that inforamtion onto a computer, and then you simply input those numbers into a CNC machine, and let it do its job. i believe the machine involves the use of a laser
 
CMM

What you are referring to is a CMM (Coordinate MEasurement Machine) These are usually used to inspect a product to ensure it is whitin spec (tolerances).

I can be used to plot the point and then tie in to a CAD/CAM software.

I worked for a machining company (large industrial)

The equipment, software, and such is VERY expensive.

ours was designed to inspection therefore it did not work how you would do for this.

I am in no way condoning stealing someone elses work...

I will say again...you likely will not save enough to warrant this...and if you are going to buy one...reverse-engineer it and re-produce it...you are not going to save, and likely will not be able to undercut existing by any significant margin.
