Looks awesome! I have my Bullitts in transit, and I can't wait!

I got a few questions if you dont mind. Did you buy them from buyfordracing? If you did, did it come with new banjo bolts and crush washers? If not, did you reuse the stock banjo bolt?

Stang|ess, yup i got it from ford racing. the SS lines it came with had the banjo bolts and all that. The only things I reused were the two very large bolts that hold on each caliper to the spindle. torque them to ~65ft-lbs if you have a torque wrench. ALSO they are VERY VERY HARD to loosen, at least for me. I got a mapp gas blowtorch and heated them up for about 25 seconds, let it cool for a min and then it loosened like butter. =)

also, the SS lines are left/right specific. I wasted 20 minutes tryign to fit the right line on the left side to find out they are slightly different sizes and it wouldn't fit.

one step closer to keeping on par with my friend and his STi.. at least in braking. or do STi's have 4-piston calipers? they better not..

i have my rears sitting in my garage, regular stock cobras... waiting till I get the fronts aswell - i guess theyre backordered at ford...

Actually the Subaru STI's braking system is extremely efficient and logical.
It is a Brembo brake system,4-wheel disc,ventiled front and rear.
4-piston front and dual-pistion rear calipers.Front 12.7 inch and rear 12.3 inch
brake discs.4-channel,4-sensor Super Sport ABS with Electronic Brake-force
Distribution (EBD).

damn. I take it the 2004 STi has the same brake setup you just mentioned? Looks like I can't compete with my friend's STi without major cash outlay. =/

Very true but,for street driving your current
set up will be just fine.Instead of spending your coin on your braking
system you should spend it on peformance or looks.

You might want to paint the center of the rotors or they will rust up badly!!!


For some reason Brembo isn't painting the centers anymore.

What i did was drive on the brakes to figure out where the wear area would be, then use electrical tape to mask off the pad swept area and then covered the calipers and sprayed the rotor center and outer edges with high temp paint and let dry.

I did mine in silver to match the car

hrm, I don't think I've seen them rust up on Cobras. Maybe it has something to do with your NE location? This car spends time in Houston and Atlanta.

That's because they are painted in the center on the cobra from the factory.


Has nothing to do where i live. Water + bare steel = rust

well that was long-lived.. there's a nice little leak on the passenger's side where the SS brake line connects to the car's brake line. Taking it to my ford dealership tomorrow so they can look at my handy work.

Ford won't touch it. They don't work on aftermarket parts (the SS lines) at all....huge liability for them. They'll gladly charge you $80 to tell you this though.

Just tighten it up a little more that's all.

You used a flare wrench right???

yes, i took it out and tightened it completely. it's NOT leaking from the threads, it's leaking from the part where the metal tube brake line comes from the car and goes into the hole of the bolt.

I was hoping ford could replace just that nut as it is kinda stripped from the factory, like a malformed bolt, but of course they won't believe that.
