Cobra intake finally found and installed

Dan02gt. Thanks for your response on MAF. I think i will buy a Pro M. You made a good point on your post and makes a ton of sense thks again everyone for replies.

If you are buying a MAF, it would be wise to buy one cailbrated for 24 lb injectors, and buy those injectors as well. It will be more trouble getting the MAF recalibrated later than to buy a matching set the first time.

I agree a 24lb meter would be the way to go. I have the ProM 75mm Bullet on my car and love it. My car averages 20MPG driving around so I would say the calibration is pretty good.
 
It doesn't make sense to do one without the other.

70-80mm MAF, going through a stock 58mm TB, into a cobra intake with a 68mm throttle opening, with aftermarket heads. 65-70mm TB would be appropriate for that combo.
 
Well... I too would change out the MAM and injectors (and, it would make sense to do the TB at the same time, but... $$$)... and, as things go, you'll need to address the fuel pump too. In my experience, once you get around 230hp at the wheels the stock pump is done.
As far as the MAM goes, "worth it?" ... Back in the day when my engine was stock, I picked up a solid 1/10th at the track. That's about 8hp, and that was with stock intake/heads etc etc, so, you should see more than that with nothing other than a MAM swap. Worth it? Only you can answer that.
MAM, Explorer/Cobra/aftermarket, doesn't matter at the emissions house... as long as your readings are within the limits they don't care what is under the hood. They do not "look" for any emissions "certifications" or whatnot. They do look for things that are not connected... aka vacuum pump with no belt to it, EGR port cap'd off... that kind of stuff.
I like C'n'L meters... they use the stock Ford electronics. There is a well known tuner here in the valley that will not work with ProM... to each their own I guess.
ProM does have an outstanding rep, so, not saying it would be a mistake... pick one and run with it, Keith (AZDyno) works with them all.

Mustang5L5 I understand what you are saying. But what I’m trying to say is I don’t want to pay for whatever pro m meter costs $239 and I get 1.5 horsepower. Now if I get 6 horsepower out of it or I paid $38 per horsepower after I install pro m meter. That is money better spent.

Keith tuned car my car year ago. He seemed like was in hurry at time he did my 93 mustang. And I don’t think he was happy he kept saying you need long tube headers, balancer was off (balancer was brand new) you cam was installed wrong (stock cam and cam was not messed with) It was detonating when it shouldn’t be detonating. But he was good guy. I just don’t want to take it too him again. I just was not happy with what I paid for. It may of been a misunderstanding but I was just not happy what I paid for.
I am thinking about driving to west side to mustang shop in Glendale. See what hey can do.

I understand your point, but it really is one of those situations that can snowball depending on the end goal you have in your mind. You, and you alone will have to make the decision as to where to draw the line. All we hope to do is provide you with enough information to make a good decision.

Highly recommend Rob Wetzel, Forced Induction Tuning... "may" have to leave it a few days, don't show up with a ProM... and it will not be cheap, but, it will be done right.

I saw some of the injector comments, and you really need to upgrade. What you have with a cam is a set of 290+ rwhp capable heads/intake but some things are holding you back. It looks like stock cam, stock headers, stock MAF, and stock TB. Even without the cam, you'd pretty easily put that car in the 260-270 range with the rest of the parts.

The guys are giving you pretty good advice about how to get a cheap 65mm TB and I definitely believe in doing the MAF and injectors together. You really do need 24s to tap the full potential of that combo, and even 30s would leave room to grow. Anyways, I've done some injector math that says that if you made 270 to the tires, you'd need 19.85 lbs/hr of fuel, and at stock pressure with 24 lbs injectors, you'd be right in the sweet spot of 82% duty cycle. With 19s, you'd come up short without resorting to band-aids like upping the fuel pressure (not recommended).

Well as of 4/7/18 my 93 Mustang LX was dyno tuned at 287.5 HP on a Mustang dyno.
Car has Edelbrock performer heads, cobra intake no porting, BBK equal length headers, Scorpion 1.6 roller rockers, Pro M 77mm MAF with stock ford electronics, BBK fender mount cold air kit, stock 19lb injectors, stock cam, and stock throttle body,

Dayumn! That totally defied my expectations for what could be done with stock injectors, stock throttle body, and stock cam, and I've seen thousands of these combos. I'm still kinda skeptical. What fuel pump is in the car? What fuel pressure did you run? And, when will you back it up at a dragstrip? If it all checks out, congrats, sir, because those results are phenomenal!

Stock pump, and not sure on fuel pressure! When will i back up probably never i dont go to dragstrip or have time to go. Also this car is my daily driver as i live east of Phx Az and once a month i drive to see my parents in San Diego Ca. And i drive my 93 mustang everywhere. I love this car. Its so much fun to drive.
In a few weeks my 93 will be going to shop again to get rear end done. Right now has 3.55 gears but pinion has a bit of play and gears howl a bit. Almost saved up $1K for job but hope its not much more!!

Thanks for the reply. That takes it from doubt to disbelief. There just comes a point when there's no way to believe something. Please don't take it the wrong way, as I don't think you're lying and I have no reason to doubt that you took it to a Dyno and got these results. The pics show that pretty clearly. However, things just don't add up, here. I've got nothing against you or your car and don't mean any insult in the slightest, and I would love to believe a stock 5.0 could do that, but the stock pump is incapable of making that much power, and the rest of the combo really shouldn't. The heads are capable and so is the intake. Stock injectors are not though, without a ton of fuel pressure (60-ish), which would have to be deliberate and you'd recognize the side-effects.

All that said, as far as possible explanations go, dynos can be very misleading. Also, perhaps a previous owner replaced the stock pump with an aftermarket one. That said, I still can't see how the stock 55mm throttle body and stock cam could do it. Also, perhaps I'm simply missing something. Track results cannot lie though. At ~290 rwhp, you'd probably see ~110mph traps in the 1/4 give or take.

When i bought my 93 mustang LX i replaced all that stuff brand new fuel pump, fuel regulator, alternator, starter, added sub frame connectors new tubular rear arms, new front calipers, new rear rotors, new braided stainless steel lines.
