From my experience, Summit has the fastest shipping around so hopefully that lands the smile on your face sooner rather than....

Finally after 3 1/2 months it's back in my possession. When I went this morning I expected it to be married to the transmission like it was when I dropped it off, but it looked like this.

The guy didn't want to set it up without a new clutch, which makes sense and I am happy for, but he doesn't think to call me. He waits until I come to the shop, and I am expecting it to be ready to go. Finally was able to drop a clutch off to him at noon and returned to pick it up at 4. I wasn't able to get much done on it today, water pipe and fuel rails back in the lower and on side has a header on it. Here is an idea of what it will look like soon.

Good news is he took $300 off the labor cost to make up for the delay.

Congrats! Looks very nice.

Are those tall valve covers? Are you having to run an intake spacer to clear the intake over the VC's?

They are taller than stock and have double thick gasket. Running a 3/4 inch spacer. Now FP gauge won't clear intake. I think i will have to remove the gauge from the AFPR and move it to the Schrader valve.

Made some progress this week. Man I am glad I labeled all the connections. As far as the nuts and bolts go, I wish I had been just as anal labeling those. I think I spent most of my time searching around for the right bolts. Anyway, engine is in, drive shaft is in, and new pro 5.0 shifter is in. Hopefully I will have it running today.

Worked on it some more this weekend and, finally got everything hooked back up and it looks pretty good. Probably, actually definitely not up to @madmike1157 's standards, but I am just glad it is back in there. I had trouble getting it started and almost gave up, if you look closely at the second picture you will see why. IDIOT!

Unfortunately, there is a big ad in the picture when you click on it to enlarge the drawing, so tell us what the problem was. It looks like the TFI module is missing the wiring connector, but that may be due to the lack of light in the underhood photo

Oh no, you are absolutely right. TFI was not connected.

I took some time last week trying to get her running correctly and ran into some snags. Bad iac and bad tps to name a few. Replaced those and still it would not idle right. I wore out my welcome a little using my fathers garage so rather than have it towed home and struggle with it I had it towed to the shop I plan on dynoing it at. With an an hour it was running right. They needed to spend some more time fixing the mid pipe and headers because they were just not lining up right causing an exhaust leak. They quoted 3 hours labor, I called bs so the said they could do it in two. I will be going tomorrow to pick it up, will let you guts know what I find.

Car is finally on the road, I am so excited to have it back. I can barely resist the urge to romp on it, but with the new clutch and fresh engine I know I should be taking it relatively easy. I have been pulling it to about 4k and downshifting to slow down. It feels great.

I am worried about the amount of smoke from the exhaust on startup. I know the rings have to seat but it is quite a bit of smoke. Under load it seems fine, there is no smoke or valve train noise, but when I return to idle the smoke comes back. How much smoke and how many miles can I expect it to happen for?

Hi guys, checking in on my progress thread after almost two years. A lot has happened and I have been quiet on the forum because there hasn't been much progress on the mustang. Life another other hand progressed and i can't believe how much has changed. I finally have the job I have always wanted, and got it all while going through a difficult divorce, which I actually came out on top of. I kept my house, the mustang, have my daughter 50% of the time, and don't pay anything. My daughter is two now and her favorite thing to do is fix stuff with daddy. Today we did this to the mustang. My first bit of progress in almost two years.

Oil being sucked into intake through pcv. The chinese Cobra manifolds don't have the full size oil baffles the oem ones do. Capped pcv and ran a breather off the oil fill cap. Trying to find a used systemax locally, but no dice so far

Yah, I've been lurking there for a little bit now. I have seen some good deals on complete tubular gt40s locally. So good that I could make my money back selling just the upper, but t I really want to get the systemax and afm power pipe. I'll wait. The car is running, I'm having fun with it again and that's the best I can hope for. Yesterday when I peeled and sealed I discovered that there was only one, one single screw holding in the left and right rear interior panels. Need to buy some trim screws and tackle that.

Left me disapointed today. Driver's side tail was cracked. I hope they replace it, also was missing one head light bulb retainer. Hurry up and wait I guess.

Cleaned up all that gunk, and was able to get head lights off and one tail on, but was dark by the time I finished. What a difference a set of clean tails make. I cannot wait to post up when they are complete.
