If both cars were driven to their potential (rarely happens), the cobra owns the GT, mostly because of your gearing, w/o gears would be a tight race with you a car or two ahead, JMO.

What did your car run stock, or what do you consider to be a good time for a stock 96-98 to run?

I'd say a good time would be mid 13's, average high 13's, and 14's for new drivers, or under bad conditions. I'm going to the track soon, going to give my new KC clutch a bit more time to sit.

You have the gears and the horsepower, but he has the torque advantage down low. He could very well get you in the eighth, but no way in the quarter.

Are your short gears really any kind of advantage in such a short race? I would think that by mid-track in the quarter you would about catch him and stomp him pretty good after that, but I think that his low end power would negate your gears until his motor starts wheezing at the higher rpm rang. Our little DOHC's come alive as the SOHC starts running out of steam.

Go to the track and run him and see what happens, come back and let us know

I don't like challenging other stangs... I like going after vets/cameros & imports... then, going back and hanging with the fellow stangers

No way in hell is a stock 96-98 cobra going to run mid 13's.. LS1's run mid to low 13's, and the 01 cobra run mid 13's. Ive had 2 friends with a 96 and 98 Cobra's, powershifting and all, they both ran 14.1-14.3 stock
