OK, so i know this is an old thread but i wanted to share my experience with cold air kits.
I've gone through TWO of them and returned BOTH in the last two weeks. The first one was the BBK with the in-fender filter. I live in a fairly dusty climate and that requires freqfilter changes/cleaning

Oops, i hit the wrong key and this got posted before i was finished. As i was writing, my climate requires frequent filter changes and cleaning of the filter. So when i saw how ridiculously DIFFICULT it is to service the BBK kit in-fender kit i bought i decided to try the engine-bay kit, evne though it is sucking the hot engine air. Well that was another problem. The bracket BBK supplies that is supposed to attach the filter setup to the frame "rail" with sheet metal screws is too SHORT by about an inch and a half, rendering it useless because the inlet pipe is, of course, metal and won't bend. So i sent that one back too. I've now removed and replaced the stock unit TWICE and had to pay UPS to ship back two BBK units. It looks like the March 5.0 unit (if that is still available) illustrated in this thread is similar to the stock one and the filter is easily serviced. the question, though , is does it actually add any POWER? If not, I'll just stick with the stock box. (Oh, i have a '92 LX 5.0)
