A friend of mine has the new 05 GT with the Shaker 1000 system in it. It sounds pretty nice and I was wondering what the system really consists of. Are the front speakers true components? Do they have built in crossovers? Is there a separate amp for each speaker like in the 2002 stangs?

Just curious if anyone knows something about them.

The fronts are truly components. They are a 4.5" and tweet mounted in a small plastic enclosure that mounts like a standard 5x7/6x8. There is an 8" subwoofer in the bottom of the doors. It sits in a .41 cubic foot sealed enclosure. A maximum mounting depth of 3.5" or modifications to the molded enclosure will be necessary. The rear-deck speakers are the standard Ford coroporate 6x8's that have been in use since around 1985- paper junk, but cheap. The rear subs would be dual 10" units (I don't have box volume as of yet- stay tuned).

The front components are powered by the head unit, the door subs each get a tiny little 2 channel amp. They're mounted side-by-side under above the driver's side kickpanel. The rear subs have their own amplifier each. Everything has crossovers, but I don't yet know if the crossovers are in the head unit, or individually in the amps. I know the front components are passively crossed between the mid/tweet by caps and coils inside the little plastic enclosure.

Whew! :D
