I've heard alot about computer chips, how they can increase hp and everything. I was wondering what aftermarket chips you guys had. I've heard alot of good things about jet performance. I also know that this can make my car runfunny if not set up properly! Need advice! I also liked Python's venom 400 because you can turn it on and off. This looks like a nice product i was wondering if anyone had it. I'm looking for a feature like this as well. Thanks James

I think the main reason people around here use chips is not to "increase power", but to properly tune thier combo's after they've been modded. True, this may increase power, but thats more of a by product of having a properly tuned combo that runs well. I don't hear of too many guys running chips with the stock H/C/I.

Or you can just buy a twEECer and do it yourself. Of course this does require some amount of technical knowledge....

OK. So you dont think it would be worth it to get one right now in this set up. I really dont want to do any deep mods to the motor since i want to drop it in two years or so, and it has to many miles to do it. Is there any advantage i can get from adding a chip with my setup. I know some are supposed to have "hot" settings but with the stock setup are you saying it doesn't take advantage of them?

I haven't looked into the subject enough to know whether or not they would benefit you or not. All I know is that not too many guys run them with few/no mods. It might help a little bit, but I think your money could be better spent at this point.

ok nice, what do you think s worth getting after gears and a shifter? Anything in the suspension department that will help me launch or take advantage of the traction. my friend is selling his lowering springs for cheap (steeda sports), i'm thinking about picking them up

A lot of times, lowering springs don't help in the traction area, research them first. they will help you corner, but your straight line will suffer. Then again, a lot of straight line guys rip off the extra weight of the different stabalizing gizmos we've got. Just do your research on your suspension before you buy it, that's all. You could think of buying some pullies also, really not that hard to put in, at least so i hear. haven't bought any myself.

I would stay away from at chip at this point. You don't need it. I have seen people do it with stock engines but it is because they have an AODE and want better shifting points. You will gain little or nothing from a chip right now. If I was you I would buy some pulleys (very easy to put-on) and if you have problems with traction buy some upper and lower control arms or invest in a set of DR. But that's if you are wanting to take it to the track often. If you are looking for some more power, do the pulleys like I said and try to find a cheap intake like the cobra or the explorer. I picked up mine for $200 and put it on myself. And if you get a new engine it will transfer over. Also the exhaust is a good place to start.

I've heard of lots of people pick up 10-20 on a stock engine. Thats just what I've heard tho. Ford didnt exactly optimize our cars off the assembly line, that should be obvious by now. Also, it would help with your 4.10s as far as increasing your shift points and increasing line pressure to your tranny and increasing the rev limiter. You would then have a much better enjoyment from your gears. you can also turn on your fan earlier which will be nice in a few months (I CANT WAIT!!!). So, its not completely useless. However, if money is tight, you may want to wait till you have a few mods so that you get more "bang for the buck" as they say. Just my opinion.
