Drivetrain confused...gears

gonna switch to 3.73....what's my tooth size?....all that mumbo jumbo has confused me

Yea, I got a head ache when I tried to figure that out when I went to 355's, I found a conversion chart that took tire height and gear ratio and trans type and gave me a tooth count for speedometer gear, I ended up with a black gear.
tire rack got me the tire measurement,

I fairly certain you have a 7 tooth drive gear.

while, someone is responding back.......if I upgrade the TB to a 65, and the MAF to a 60......do I need to replace the intake manifold as well?

yes...stock intake....only upgrade is shorty headers and midpipe

No, but don't expect a huge SOTP feel.

As for speedo gear, shine a flashlight up the speedo hole in the trans and look for color

Green = 8 tooth
Yellow = 7 tooth
Black = 6 tooth

so I can replace the , TB and MAF without doing the intake?.......and where is the hole?...is it in the cabin?....or underneath?....thanks man

Naw, in reality your intake and heads are limited, that maf upgrade is ok but the tb is going to be restricted by the intake opening, you could waller it out to fit the 65 mm tb but your not going to gain anything, wait and get a explorer intake.
how far are you going to go with this? Have a goal?

You have to pull your speedometer gear from the trans and peek inside the hole

I guess my goal is to just be able to have confidence, if some ******* kid pulls up to be I can take him....all things considered of course!....I have a great write up, so I guess I should just follow that first

The best thing to do for a dependable, fun ride is to grab a set of aluminum heads, a explorer intake, 1.7 rocker arms your tb and maf and ride it.
