Congrats to Willy, a new bar has been set...

Ok, i'm new to these sn95's.....is it just the weight of these two cars(killercanary's and the one in the link above) that makes their performance special? No slam to you killer..don't take it that way. I understand your car is heavy and would turn some great times with about 500lbs off it..but is it something to do with these car themselves or what? Are not that many 94-95's running 11's n/a? I mean, i've built 2 fox body's(one still a 302,the other a 306) that put down over 365rwhp n/a and it seems with the 94-95's 300rwhp is magical. My buddy has a 95gt that ran 12.30's @ 108mph on a set of junk mcreary's with nothing special. Full weight with out of the box tw's,full exhuast(shorty's at that),tfs intake, afm cam(stock shortblock), and all the other bolt ons with stock suspension and 3.73's. If i remember it dynoed around 285 or so at the wheels. Its all moot at this point anyways...he's dropping a 351 in at the moment.

I always forget the 94-95 section is around..i'm trying to get used to clicking on it now i've got one, lol. I will say i love the handling/braking and all around driveability of this car..way above and beyond the roughly 15 foxes i've had over the years. I'm itching so bad to throw mods at this thing...but thats not why i bought it,lol.

maybe i haven't been paying enough attention, or maybe it's my imagination but the two fastest na cars i know of on here are verts?

is it something to do with more traction? more weight = more traction and amount of torque counteracts the weight gain?

you havent been paying attention
:rlaugh:

There are VERY, VERY few HCI cars running 11's. I know of only TMC, and now Willy. 2-3 years ago there was only like 3-4 of us here and the corral running 12's NA. There are only 2 guys I have seen here and the corral that run 12's NA in GT's on the stock heads. There were 2 cobra owners that did it with the stock H/C/I. Its just not a common thing to see. The general idea seems to be that the EEC and the t-body inlet are the primary factors that limit the 94-95's in power production. Look at the sticky at the top and see what everyone is running. Welcome to the "red headed stepchild" 5.0 side!

I'll check it out more closely...i did notice the muffler data...that was me and my blue coupe when it was n/a! Thats as far as i made it as to checking out the stickies.

Red headed stepchild,lol....

whaoh! 365hp? with what combos? i really really think our computers hold our cars back, but people have tuned em out so that really isnt a factor. I believe that it would be easier to get a coupe to 11's na, just due to the weight, however, has anyone really tried? maby the vert's extra weight is over the rear, for better traction? eaither way, a fox can hit 11's much easier due to the weight diff, but i would really like to know what combos the fox's are using to get these hp numbers

One combo...stock block, crank, rods with a set of standard bore dss pistons(basicly just for pv clearance), afm n-91 cam, afm ported tw's, modified tfs street intake, bassani 1 3/4- 1 5/8 stepped longtubes with bassani offroad x and quiet thunder mufflers,75mm tb, 80mm mass air, 30# inj, race crank pulley with all the other bolt ons. Stock fan and clutch, power steering too put down 376rwhp with a real aggressive tune. This combo was used in 5.0 mag for the muffler shootout(albiet with a different tune). And same engine in my other coupe for MM&FF for the rpm vs rpm II dyno article.

The other was stock block(decked),crank, and rods and dss .030 over pistons..yadda,yadda(same as above) with only these changes...bbk 1 3/4 longtubes, dr gas off road x, 2 ch. flowmasters, victor 5.0 intake, 90mmtb. This combo had a hair more compression and layed down 368rwhp untuned. Results are found on afm website...i won the n/a 5.0 dyno shootout 2 years straight. Both combo's/cars were pms equipped.

Damn, it must be nice to run those kinds of times with these cars. I'm still trying to get to the 12s. But I don't have the most important things like a Tweecer or EEC or custom chip. I know that will make a major difference in the performance of my car. I'm sure I'd need a custom cam also. I'm just gonna try to get the absolute most I can out of the combo I have because I don't plan to keep the 302 thats in there now. I'll be upgrading to a 331 hopefully within a year or so. So I don't want to waste money getting a custom cam or even a custom chip right now. I am going to try to get a better off-the-shelf cam for this motor though. Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated from you n/a 11 and 12 sec. guys.
