Hey guys..met a guy who apparently who does SCT tuning and I'm wondering if he can do me any good. Guy says he gets in my car (I'm driving of course) and with his laptop or what ever is involved he's going to progam a chip for my car. Now is this 400 charge going to net me any true benefits for the set up I'm running (sig)? I am interested to say the least since the nearest dyno seems just too far to drive to...3hrs.

i had my car tuned on a dyno with a SCT chip and it turned out great. my buddy had his LS1 camaro tuned at a shop in Jersey on a dyno and while the car was faster it had drivability issues. He later on took his car to F-body central and they tune with the lap top in the car on the road under real conditions. Now not only are all his drivability issues gone but his car is faster yet. He now runs 12.4's with the stock motor and auto trans. The tune cost him 250$. so if this guy you talked to is really good, you will probrably get a good tune. Whatever you decide, make sure the tuner stores the tune you currently have on on of the slots so that if he makes the car run worse you have somehing to fall back on.

Exactly what I was thinking..keep the starting tune and his tune..I think I may give him a shot. Though the price is high I wonder if he may find some decent #'s that I didn't know I was missing. As of now I run 40psi fuel pressure and 14* timing..pretty basic settings..I am curious if there is more to be had, and how my A/F ratio is really doing.
