I've got a 66 mustang coupe with a tired 289/T10 4spd (needs rebuilt anyway)and i want too swap the hole combo out for a 91 HO 5.0/AOD combo. The motor has had some mods and is really strong running (came out of my old 91 GT mustang with 4.10 in the rear) The AOD also has a lentec valvebody in it and has a 3000 stall. My question is what all will be needed too do this swap (besides petals, crossmember, and shifter). Thanks for any help

You can use your stock shifter with a kit from CJ pony that includes kickdown cable, New c4 tranny mount, shift linkage for your stock shifterand new slip yoke for around $320. Your drive shaft needs to be shortened about 1" too.

The drive shaft does not necessiarly have to be shortened. The C-4 yoke can be shortened about 1 5/8 in, or use the AOD yoke. Which is approximately the same as a shortened C-4 yoke. The C-4 yoke has a deeper throat and the splines dont start untill almost 3 in down the throat. So trimming excess length doesnt cause any mechanical differences. NPD sells a yoke that is intended for this purpose, I couldent tell any major differences between it and a regular AOD yoke.... Of course take meaurements to assure your particular installation.
I used my stock shifter with a home made shift rod. (two heim joints & bend a rod to fit) The throw of the shifter need to be adjusted, shifter to rod connection is higher up than stock location.
If your going EFI there are no nonstock engine/trans connections that need to be changed.
I used a windsor-fox trans mount w/poly isolator.
Good opportunity to upgrade to a crossflow radiator, & new trans cooling lines.

Cool, the cars got a 4 spd manual (needs rebuilt) in it right now. I was planing on upgrading the radiator and run a B&M tranny cooler. I'm not sure if i'm going EFI or carbed yet. So i can get a C4 tranny crossmember and just put a AOD mount on it and it'll bolt right up? I was thinking on putting in a Hurst Quarter Stick.

No. You need a C4 mount and a special cross member made by Mustangs + or CJ Pony parts for AOD swap
