Hey I was driving today and my manual fan switch came loose. I glanced down at the coolant temp and it was reading 250* I pulled over and found the problem within 2 minutes. Coolant was burbleing into the overflow tank. I started back up and got on the road in about a minute or so it came back to the usual 180-185*. This is a mechanical gauge with the probe in the manifold. I drove home and let it cool, and drove it again just now. Temps were normal.
Could this have caused a problem? If it did, I would think it would show up now, not later. Seems like everything is fine....
