Are you looking for a place to put a new sensor? How about drilling and tapping the top of the thermostat housing? That is where I put the VW switch I used for my Taurus fan. Worked great.

Fett has the right idea. I'd add that you can get a cast stat housing from the parts store for 10 bucks. It has a 3/8" NPT hole tapped in it.

Good luck.

Those work okay for a useless gauge or something you dont care about (NOT a fan switch). Coolant flow back there is very limited (it changes due to radiant heating/cooling more than anything else). This means the fan would be slow to turn on and slow to turn off. Not good. I used the driver's side rear port for my stock temp gauge and that worked alright since that gauge is useless anyhow.

Just MHO.

Good luck.

P.S. If you need to, you can remove those plugs with the upper intake in place (in case it saves some work).
