COOLANT TEMP??

On our guages it reads between 130 and 270. Their are marker lines in between, is about 1/2 way up, or in the middle considered to be running around 205-215???? Im just wondering because mine is running just a tad more than 1/2. Im pretty sure it still has the O.E. thermostat in it. I do have some UD pulleys on it. This will be the 1st summer that I will have this car so I dont know what is/was normal for it last summer. I think it ran just under 1/2 when I got it in Aug 2005. Im getting ready to go on a 9-HR trip and want to make sure it's running normal before I hit I-95.
Is it recommended to change the T-stat from the O.E. degree setting??
Am I correct on the temp reading portion of this, or is it higher than normal. It was about 70 degrees this morning, was in stop and go and also on the interstate. Guage stayed put the whole time.
Could this be caused by the UD pulley's??

Help me out on this guys, SORRY for the long post.

Stock gauge is in now way a good indiction of what is actually occuring under the hood. Aftermarket gauges and a nice 180Tstat are your best start point to run safe...provided the rest of the system is up to the task (rad,pump,hoses..ect)

Radiator is new and so are the hoses. Car only has like 24 or 25,000 miles on it. Like I said the gauge didnt move once it got their. Runs great, just wanna not have an issue running a continous 75-85 MPH

Thats about where mine is on the stock gauge as well. I think you are in a good spot. If it were 3/4 or more up the gauge, then I'd say you may want to look further into it, but half and a little over seems just fine.:nice:

Sorry didn't know you wanted me to put down what you wanted to hear..:). You might also not want to hear how stock gauges are BRUTAL for reading temp and pressure, 1/2 mark was actually 10PSI at idle on my oil pressure gauge, and the 1/4 mark on my temp gauge was 200 on my autometer.

Well then I guess I'll have one of the techs here hook the scanner up to it to read the actual engine temp. and see if the gauge is reading acurate. Good info Thanks.
But the answer to the question about what the temp readings are on the gauge? Is middle on the gauge about 205-215????

Update gauge was just under 1/2 this morning:shrug: . Put it on a scanner this morning after I got in to see if gauge and scanner were abut the same, but found out we could not get any data stream:bang: So I guess i'll be hitting the road with a ? mark.
