Coolant?

I woke up this morning and started the stang and saw the low coolant light on! My car used to do that cause of a leak in the radiator but I fixed that. Were does this coolant go? I've always had trouble with the coolant on this car. My cap for the reserve tank is broken and is barley caped right, could that be the problem? Thanks

my over flow hose sometimes will dribble from the bottom of the reserve tank. and will be low.

looks for wet spots dirt covered.........if you cant find any....and dont want to think bad (I.E leaking head gasket)buy some black light dye.............poor it in your rad.....................drive it for a couple hundred miles then take a black light stick to it.....................other wise the idiot lights arnt 100% mine went off none stop my system never took any extra or leaked any...............

What kind of mix do you run? Could be the water evaporating over time if it's a higher water mix than coolant. Mine does the same thing but it doesn't leak. Just mentioning that because alot of people check it and see it's a little low and just add water ( I do this at times myself) and some people just run a higher water mix. I used more coolant than water and seemed to fix the light coming on.

Sounds like a good start. They have testers that will tell you how good your coolant is. If it hasn't been changed in a while you might be due anyways.

If you are actually losing water, you may want to check under your water pump. there is a thing called a weep hole (not sure that's how it's spelled) my car exhibited the same thing for months and I could never figure it out. Basically in my was what was happening was, there was a tiny bit of water coming out of it while I was driving, but when I would stop and check it out there would be nothing, the water would evaporate because it was such a small amount, over time the leak got worse which is when I finally found the it. What coolant to use on stock radiator

Hi, My low coolant light came on today and I manually checked and it is low. I was about to put in a gallon of water when I noticed that thing that says your engine needs a special coolant" ford and some number", then it says only use water in case of emergency. Is that true and if so what am I supposed to use and where can I get it?

Mine did this one time because my peacock wasn't in all the way, and it was slowy dripping out.

My low coolant light kept coming on...even when I wasn't losing coolant...

For me it was the low level sensor...(that long tube coming down of the cap of the resevoir)...yeah...only way to replace that one new was $75 from Ford...screw that...I just disconnected my sensor and I check my fluid regularly...no more light...YAY

Yeah no joke, I lost mine at the carwash when I did my intake swap, it was around 70 bucks for a new one.

The sensors can sometimes just be cleaned off from what I hear. I've never had one -- always had older cars and LX's, but it sounds like a better place to start than shelling out $75!

i have heard that once you find the hole you can put a 160* thermostat in the hole and the system will run great.

Adam is right - one can clean the sensor up. some guys (if they know they are up to capacity and it is a sensor fault) will rewire it so the light is inoperable.

one can get dye to put in the system to check for leaks.

Yes I heard that no matter what cooling problem you have use a 160* tstat and all will be fine. It worked for one car it will work for EVERY car.
