Whats a general average for a 289? i've found rebuild kits (that include pistons) for 400. i was gonna buy a cam for 130 (matching the intake). is that about right as far as price goes? if machine work is needed (boring,shaving, redoing the heads, etc) then i've founid a place to do it for 300...but it would take 3 weeks.
