There's one pic of the door tag. I can't make out the VIN, but I think it might have been a 302 car. It looks like it might be 7F03F. Of course, that's just a guess since the 5th digit is hard to make out. It doesn't look like a Y or a Z. I think it kinda looks like an H but there were no H code cars made to my knowledge. But of greater interest to me is the interior. I mean throw some carpet in it and it would look really good considering it's been sitting a while. The seats might be kinda crappy after all these years though. And I believe it was black in a previous life too....

Here's a Cobra in Fort Payne, Alabama, asking $8900.

Seller's Description

Mustang Cobra II , 302 V-8, 4 speed manual transmission. Good driver has new headliner but needs to be installed, front seats need repairs. Paint not perfect but driver quality.Tires have good tread but are older. Original slotted mag wheels. This is a real Cobra !verified by the vin number.

Side note: I'd hate to break it to him but you don't confirm a Cobra II by VIN number unless you have a Marti Report....

Dear God, the prices some people are asking for and getting for some of these hoopties has me thinking I should offload the Super Pinto before the bubble pops. Lord knows life would be easier with one fewer bill (for the insurance) and no more money flowing into something I only drive rarely.

Yeah, some people seem to think because a car is considered a classic that it's worth double it's weight in gold now. I think they watch too many episodes of Barrett Jackson or Mecum on TV.

That Cobra II in Alabama is a prime example. Non-original engine that isn't anything special. Torn up seats, rust bubbles in the quarters, a front bumper skin held on by carriage bolts, no radiator shroud, no battery cooling duct, wrong coolant overflow tank, and something obviously wrong in the heat department because the heater hoses are draped over the battery, and the guy wants $8900? I'd be in at $4-5k all day if I didn't find anything else wrong, but $9k for a car that is that obviously flawed?

You can tell he's trying to find a sucker just by the comment about verifying it's a Cobra by the VIN. Honestly, it looks like he slapped lipstick on a pig and is trying to sell Secretariat. It was obviously not a white car, and from what I understand white is one of the colors that can help hide shoddy body work the best. He needs to put the pipe down, he's asking WAY too much....

And what were they thinking with the wing angle?! I don't htink they understand their purpose....

Honestly, it looks like it's on backward. I had one of those on my old coupe....
