Crane HI-6

i'm looking for a ignition box for when i install my blower this summer. I'm afraid of the MSD boxs dieing on me so I'm thinking about the Crane HI-6.

Which one do i get?

6000-6300 HI-6S (for 5lbs boost)

or

6000-6466 HI-6TRC (6+ lbs boost)

i'm confused. i thought they were all the same except for the timing retard box.

Crane is out of business, so you might want to avoid that box.

I had a hi-6s, served me faithfully for ~12 years, just crapped out last week.
RIP Hi-6s...

look around, some of the things I read gave the Crane stuff very high regards, (and not knocking) but more so than the MSD stuff. I've heard the company is no more, but I'd guess some of the places still have their stuff on the shelf

Heard that while reminiscing with my alter ego, (I ride a Harley also)

S+S is like the Edelbrock in the Harley world if you didn't know. Good reputation, big in supplying aftermarket goodies for the Harley world

Crane used to make Harley stuff. My understanding is that S&S bought out there Daytona Beach facility to continue to make Harley parts, but they aren't going to keep making all the other stuff. So if you get a Hi-6, it isn't going to have a warranty.

Looks like they will continue making ignitions for cars at least from what that link lead me to believe. May be a while before camshaft and valve train stuff is up an going again though

I have an MSD Digital 6. I am on my 4th one, but I think they finally fixed the bugs. I honestly think the Crane 6 is a better product.
