Hi guys,

I haven't had any problems with my Stang, except for this one:

Whenever I apply my brakes, I get a creaking noise comming from the engine bay. Even when I am stopped, I still get this noise if I push the brakes. The harder I push the brake pedal, the more noise it makes. Any ideas on what it could be? Is it the hydraulic brake cylinder? How do I fix it?

It is a creaking sound. The best way I could describe it is the sound a wire makes when extreme tension is being put on it.

Thanks,
Matt

Hmm, sounds can be tricky to diagnose over the internet...

How many miles on the car?
How many miles on the pads?
How many miles on the fluid?
Who did the last brake job?
You have the hydroboost right?

Are you sure it isn't the rubber boot at the floor board, creaking when the brakes are applied?

Try this. start the stang so it builds pressure. Turn it off, open the door and get down by the floor-board and press the pedal down with your hand. Listen for the location of the sound.

Well, it's a little hard to diagnose because the car is sitting in my garage, covered, with the battery removed lol. It's away for winter, but I am trying to gather different ideas so I can try to diagnose and fix the problem myself in the spring time.

How many miles on the car? 22,550 miles
How many miles on the pads? Same as above
How many miles on the fluid? Same as above
Who did the last brake job? N/A
You have the hydroboost right? Don't all 99+ GT's?

It does say to change the brake fluid every 2 years (as per the Haynes manual), and it's been about 4 now :D I really haven't gotten around to it yet, although everything else is overmaintained ... weird. Could it be making this creaking noise because the fluid hasn't been changed?

It seriously sounds like it is comming from the engine bay. I am 95% sure on this. It sounds like it comes from the top of the left strut tower (from sitting in the vehicle), which is where my BF reservoir is ... hmmmm.

I had the same exact problem. The noise was coming from the front passenger side wheel. When I bought winter tires I had them install new front rotors, brake pads, and flush the brake fluid. Problem solved...no more noise!

I have the same exact problem when pushing the brakes when im stopped and also with steering the car left or right when im stopped or driving really slow. I can also feel pressure in the brakes go up when i turn the wheel when i am stopped... ... its like a creaking kinda like grinding rubber shoes on a dry floor, and it is definately coming from the engine bay.
