I need a double hump crossmember, and my questions are

--Where is the best place to buy/look

and

--Is it okay to use a used one, that is claimed to be in good condition.

Thanks to all..

junk yard, i guess as long as its not bent or anything. There no moving parts on it "of course" so you should be in the clear unless you want a bran new one.

You can get a new adjustable one from a couple of companies for 59 bucks, that's the way i would go, unless you are really broke, some how i bent 2 stock ones so...
And i couldn't tell they were bent until i went to put the trans back in the car, so i finally got one from summit racing (i think).

The one i have is also made by FMS.

Just remember, they are all adjustable new. When you put them on, they are able to slide on the bushings that mount on the frame. It allows you to align it easily to your transmission. You then need to tack weld the x-member to the bushings.

I have a used one (See sig). It has a few minor dents, but I promise they would cause you no issue provided you're not trying to enter a national level show.

I had an extra one (from my t-5 conversion) laying a round for 5 years!
I finally tossed it in the dumpster a few weeks ago, along with stock headers, AOD flex plate, stock AOD shifter. I just do not know anyone that has any use for my junk!
Also have a Cheapo 5 lug conversion laying around!
Nothing's for sale at the time, I do not want to deal with shipping, packaging and all that crap that comes along with selling auto parts.

Actually most 4 cylinders don't have them. All V8's 86+ would have them and the occasional 4 cylinder. I got mine from a 4 cylinder in a junk yard.
