i have the chance to get a complete rearend from a '98 crown vic police interceptor for the total price of $0, yes thats right, zero dollars. so i got to thinking, supposing i have a free rearend laying around, i could build it up however i wanted and then just do a full swap instead of screwing around changing differentials and things on the car.....i don't need a replacement or anything right now, but the idea of a free rearend is almost too good to pass up. so here's the deal...will these rearends fit our cars? i'm pretty sure they're the good old 8.8's and know they have the posi and everything, but if i got it all that will probably come out eventually anyways. so, are they too wide? or are they a direct bolt-in? i also have the chance to probably get the rear wheels also, so i'm wondering if anyone knows what size those are (i'm too lazy to find myself a police car just this second) and possibly having a set of wheels to mount some drag radials on for future outings to the track. i know this all sounds crazy, but a rearend and some steel wheels for free are hard for me to pass up.
~thanks guys! let me know any solid information you have...because if its going to take a lot of modifications i'll scrap the idea.

To the best of my knowledge, cop cars do have limited-slips in them. I don't see why they wouldn't. Just make sure to check the length of the rear and make sure it's the same as the Mustang. Something tells me that they are longer.
