i know this isnt the proper way to lower a car, thats not my concern. my question is, the stock spring is a linear rate spring not progressive. i know in a progressive spring, cutting a coil or so off will greatly screw up the spring rate, but what about a linear rate spring? in theory, it shouldnt do anything except lower the over all height of the spring. am i right to think this, or will the spring rate get messed up?

How much are you cutting? They are doulbed at the bottom for a reason, if you cut the second one from the bottom might as well throw it away. The rate will be too light and you'll be like those ricers that bounce all over (bottom out) from a pebble. I've seen FRPP 5300-C springs in the classifieds for under $70. Do it the proper way.
