Done. Idle came down. I'll post a log in a bit - lunch time with the wife!

By the way - thank you for helping me out, so much conflicting info out there that I was literally just guessing trying to figure some of these quirks out. Very much appreciated!!

So how long have you been working on the tune??

No problem, i run this little section of the forum and megasquirt is my ECU of choice.. I wont tune it for you [that's how i make my play money] but i will give you advice all day on how to make it do what you want. Keep me updated, the idle/ cruise is the hardest to tune. WOT is simple.

I've been working on it off and on for a few weeks now. It's a lot to learn but I'm weeding through it!

I was planning on using the auto tune for cruise tuning.

eh autotune works ok, you need to get the settings correct though. dont let it correct below 30kpa or 1000rpm or it will screw the idle fuel up. it wont play well with the cam lope. the first time you take it out set auto tune to normal, drive it for 15mins. then move it to hard and drive for another 15mins. then smooth the VE table. It will take multiple trips to get it close just using autotune. there are much faster/better ways but they will take a long time for me to explain typing it.

I'll make sure I set that up before I get to that point. Do I work on that before the warmup tuning or after? right now I have to feather the throttle to keep it running during warmup.

Before warm up tuning will be the 4th item on the tuning list.
1. Idle
2. Cruise
3. Acceleration enrichment
4. Warmup fueling
5. Wot tuning.

Good deal. Cruise will be more fun as long as I don't end up stranded on the side of the road lol

As long as you are mechanically sound you'll be good. I have tuned 30+ cars without ever seeing them, I do it over the internet. While the owner drives i live tune the car. You will be just fine.
Btw what thermostat fo you have in? Please tell me it's not a 165*... EFI cars are designed to run between 190-205...

Ok, the MS can do that if the Hayden ever gives out. Is it simple on off or pwm?

I believe it's just on off. Has a temp probe in the radiator.

Seems a little lean to me, afr is in the upper 14 -15 range. I've read it should be in the 13.8ish area.

Thoughts?

Is this at idle?

I always give the car what it wants... sometimes they idle well at 13.5 sometimes at 15.

Yes at idle. How do you know what it wants? I'm still learning to decipher what the logs are telling me but don't have enough experience to do it by feel.

It does idle smooth tho. That log above only shows about 100 -120 RPM deflection.

sorry i was out messing with my own ish....
I usually get the car tuned well with a rich idle [13.5ish] then after i have it smooth i lean it out until the customer likes the exhaust note but the car does not hunt or stall.... hard to explain, you can hear it

So when I drive it tomorrow, keep it easy, little on road, little highway, follow your advice regarding easy then hard setting for auto tune...

I'll also set it up to only target cells above 1050rpm.

Afterwards, does every subsequent drive need to be set at hard?

Best advice i have is to get MegaLogViewer and pay for the HD version. you can drive the car while datalogging and tune the car after you drive it... The VE analyzer is a fantastic tool, I do not use autotune unless i am also adjusting the table at the same time.

use the VE analyzer to fine tune the car after meatballing it with autotune
