My daughter has a 1996 v6 5 speed base model has a problem we need help with. The ignition switch seem to just turn with no resistance. The car want start, the radio is on, battery light is on, check engine light is on, and nothing changes with any position of the key. The head lights work and are bright. We tried push starting it and that didn't accomplish anything.

Also the stang does not have the anti-theft.

What's your opinion? How do you remove the switch? :bang:

When that happened in my '90 (ignition switch was stuck on, key did nothing and had no resistance) it ended up being the ignition actuator broke, linking the lock cylinder and ignition switch. They don't sell em anywhere, I had to go to the pick n pull to get the part. It would of taken less time to actually swap the whole column than just that little part, go figure.

I can tell you how it all comes apart if you can get down to the cylinder lock/ignition switch and they aren't the prob.

Had it towed home today and pulled the column. After pulling the column apart, I found that the locking actuator and selector arm pin had fallen out. I guess it pressed in and worked it's way out. What a pain in the butt. I did find a nice peice of cut up harness I need to address also.
