decisions . . . radiator fan, give me some advice

I just bought an aluminum radiator, looking to install an electric fan with it. Would you rather have one big fan or two smaller fans? Is there an advantage to having one over the other? I'm hard on this car even though its a daily driver - I abuse it. <-- Thats probably not relevant, advice would help. Gracius amigos

Traditionally I would say go with two smaller ones because they will flow more CFM on average but the best advice I can give you is research this site. I found all the info I needed through this and PM's. I went from a black magic single to a set of twins that flow roughly 50% more.

I say use the Ford Contour/Mercury Mystique V6 fan. It can be had cheap from the junkyard. Also I work in an auto parts store and I tried every fan available and the Contour fan almost covers the whole radiator.

do you know the amp draw of a contour fan? might be able to get 2 small ones to flow the same CFM but with lower amp draw

I'm not sure of the draw. I can check. I like the idea of 2 fan in case one goes bad you still have one left.

Here is a picture of them mounted to my radiator.

I use a Hayden part # 3654 fan controller. The fans are both 2 speed. It capable of utilizing both speeds. When the car goes 10 degrees above the specified temperature they kick on low speed. If it happens to go up 10 more degrees they will kick on high speed. When the A/C is turned on the both go on high speed. There is a probe you stick in the fins of the radiator to pick up the temperature. I'm very happy with this set up compared to the stock belt driven fan.
