Ok my car is a 95 GTS Aode car...heres the numbers on the rear end tag...(car is all stock) 3L 27 88 4M13 What do those numbers mean also there were another set of numbers on the tag S2310.
Which ecu does my car have? How to find out which one?
The axle code is on the door jam sticker. It will be a letter(s) under the letters AX. The ECU is most likely U4P0. You will have to remove the passenger side kick panel to access the ECU if you want a visual confirmation.
3L27 means axle came stock with 3.27 gears and L means limited slip (posi).the 88 is actually 8.8 which means 8.8 rear end..4M13 is the date build code 4=94,M= december,13=13th day...
Wasn't the W4H0 the PCM for the auto with a 2.73 gear only? If that's the case would swapping a W4H0 for the U4P0 advance or delay the shift with steeper gears? I'm thinking that advancing the shift is the correct answer and that's not the way I want to go.

I can say those two pcm's were used in auto trans Stangs
I can not say I know for certain of why two different pcm's were used
There was a recent thread where Wes gave more info that might
help you but I myself have not worked with auto stuff in the past
so I won't say more for fear of spreading info that is not valid
Grady's right - Wes knows. I actually just asked him this in my last email with him (I have a W4 stock but my spare puter is a U4). Mr Wes knew all the ins and outs of the differences.
