Kind of. I just learned that .... with a measly $600 investment ... my full size 4x4 truck will run mid 12's (faster than my Stang). Bittersweet, I guess .... but I didn't want the truck because of speed. That's what the car is (supposed to be) for. I guess this will push me harder to get the stroker built, lol. I took her for a spin today for the first time in a couple of weeks. I almost feel like I've neglected it.

Anyone else here have a PSD? If so, I have some questions for you.

PSD = PowerStroke ... sorry.

Haha, I don't know what Ben thought it was .... but I understand what he's saying. That what's so depressing man. I'm gonna have to fork out ALOT more to get this car where I want it.

My grandfather has an '03 GMC 2500 Z71 Duramax and he put a chip in it that cost around $1000.

He ran somewhere around low 13's or high 12's.

Ive seen him smoke all four tires and just sit there with them spinning. And these are some big ass tires.

Learned from where? You are suggesting that a Power Stroke Diesel will run 12's with $600 invested? No way.

Sorry for being so vague. I was saying $600 more than "already invested". I was speaking with a PSD drag racer. He says that if I throw an "Edge Juice with Attitude" in that I will see mid 12's. I have already upgraded exhaust and intake. Supposedly, 4 door automatic trucks can see 14's with those mods. Mine being regular cab & 6 speed manual .... launching in 4WD ... I could see mid 12's if I can build 22 psi.

I'm still learning about them, so I really have no idea how well I would be able to run. Regardless, it's still depressing when I think of my car.

On another forum there was a guy with a 2007 F-250 Crew Cab 4x4 - mods are the Edge tuner (with juice), intake, full exhaust, different injectors, 37" wheel/tire combo. It is fast, he said high 12's but whole setup cost him 4k though. I wouldn't be too depressed. You could make a nissan sentra go fast for that much money. It will still never be the same as your stang. You can't replace that American muscle "car" - specifically mustang. I bet that truck is nice though!!

I work for keystone automotive in PA and tons of people buy those edge programmers and come back saying they are awesome the next day..that they ran 13's, 12's...etc... at the track the other night... Which to me is great.

But then about 2-3 months later they come back saying that they blew a manifold, turbo flange, piston, their convertor, or something else on their truck and need to repair it because they decided to turn the programmer all the way up [same goes for the Banks 6-shooter or the power-pup programmers] and they end up blowing up their truck.

To me, I'd rather drive my $3,500 mustang with about $4,000 into it and know that I can upgrade it more, for a cheap amount of money and still be able to drive it to and from the track each night.

My car has 159,984 miles on it [Yeah, I looked when I got out of the car tonight] and it still runs like a beast. I got it with a bad trans, paintjob, and it needed a new convertible top, but for 7k it's not a bad car. Not to mention that it's taking a 100shot of dry ZEX nitrous right now [since about 152k] with not as much as a burp. For another $1500 I can have it in the 12's.

My $10,000 mustang [if that] VS your $35,000 diesel?
I think the mustang was money well spent.. Not to mention it def. does look better :nice:

I have watched some of those truck forums because I like trucks too. There was a guy there with the Z71 Duramax with intake, blow off valve, exhaust and a bullydog type reprogram that ran 14.2. I haven't seen any of those in the 12's. Not saying that is not possible but he may have done more to it than just the computer. The diesels can do better from mods in trucks than the gas because they are so heavy. The diesels go WAAAAY up in torque which makes all the difference in weighty vehicles!! Some of them more than 900+ ft pounds tq.

True. I will never replace her. I may juice the truck, but that doesn't mean I will forget about the project. I don't care how long it takes, I will get it done one of these days.

The one he has is from EDGE products. He had to opt for a special program in it that would dissconnect the tq converter if he got on it too hard and was inddange of breaking it. Ive driven this truck before and its is FAST as ****. He put 4 in magnaflow exhaust and upgraded the turbo system on it.

I understand what you're saying. And I totally agree. The Stang looks better and was $$$ very well spent. But I just wanted to throw in that I'm not one of those idiots that went out and threw down $35K to try to prove something. I needed a truck, lol. And besides, I didn't even pay half that. :D

Yep, pretty facinating those trucks are that fast, lol. But still, yo ucan make anything go fast. Look at the imports. I still live the sound of that american muscle v-8 and no turbo on mine just nitrous (and h/c/i). Expecting 11's. Especially considering KC did almost 11's with very similar setup and no nitrous. Heck he might be able to run low 11's in mine..or if I am as good a driver. Still more $$$ no matter wha tyou drive cause then yo uhave to upgrade suspension..trans...other...

Besides, why should we OWN the right to go fast?

Ok, somebody obviously doesn't know jack about how the Edge works. The Duramax Juice interfaces with the Allison TCM to back off power when it detecs slip. Period...standard feature. Pretty sure the 6.0PSD version does the same. You'll still fry an allison if you beat it with a 90hp tune for a while.

Now that said I got a ride in my neighbors 05 Dmax with stacks and a Juice With Attitude on stage 2. Broke the tires loose and started getting sideways, half throttle at 35mph. :jaw: He says its really something else on stage 5

PS: 12s my ass Mr. Green GT I say 13.6-ish
PPS: Kennedy diesel's crew cab dmax dually, tuners, CAI, exhaust, NOS and LPG, 7200lb race wieght and 12.72s

3 of my freinds have power stroke 7.3L's, all of them have been tuned by an SCT chip. Two of them are '97s (non intercooled) and are only turned up by about 55 hp which is as much as those older ones can take. But the third one is a '00 turned up to about 120 more hp, and it also has 5" exhaust. And i can honestly say it will blow the doors off my car, and easily sounds just as badass as an uncorked gas v8.

There is a dude who lives near me with a 2004/2005 GM Duramax with 5" exhaust and some tuning and I guess what is a propane injector or something. The truck is a long bed regular cab (fire engine red) and SCREWS!
I have seen the truck going at least 80 past my house. He has held his own with bikes (Harleys mostly) for a little while.
The truck runs like an animal and sounds bad A$$!
But the kid is a punk with too much money... and he drives really aggressively for no reason, like passing people on double yellow lines and tailgating and whatever.
