SOLUTION = Timing
I am not sure what it was exactly set at but it was above 19. Once I seen that I didn't care and yes the spout was out. So once I got it down to 12 it was running and idling much better. Prior to getting the engine hot I checked a couple plugs and they were showing a lean condition. Amazing how well its drive ability improved. Idles well and even smooth at 1200 rpm in 2nd gear (with stock rear gears).
Appreciate all of the help from everyone more than you can imagine. Even though this isn't my required daily driver, I want to drive it. I will have to clean the smog tube to get rid of the codes I have but that will be like a Friday night soak, Saturday clean type of project. Next on list will be rear main once it gets colder and driving it less.
