Diablo Predator tune on a stock new edge GT

Took the car out a run, brought it back, `tuned` it with my spangly Diablosport Predator.

As the advert says `unleash the beast within`. Even on a stock car the site says ...... " Feel the face ripping power of DiabloSport's Mustang Predator tuner! This tuner is adds 15-20 REAR WHEEL Horse power to stock Mustang GT and V6 Applications by modifying spark, fuel, and transmission functions. Increased drivability will be seen across the entire RPM band, not just the low end! "

Took it out again. My verdict on my new arrival?

I didn`t expect much but I expected something. Anyone who talks about huge SOTP gain is talking out of their pants. it might pick up with a CAI................then again.

Add mods, then you'll get some gain. A stock GT is'nt gonna gain squat, and certainly not 15-20RWHP with just the basic stuff. I gained around that on the dyno, but 4 valves are better than 2.

I worked for a while with Diablo to get a decent tune on my 4V, but it was never right...not even acceptable...in some of the cases, absolutely horrid.
Gotta give some props to Diablo though - they did try and try to get it right, but it just didn't work out for me so I finally sold my expensive traction control turner offer...

When I had mine dynoed the tuner guy was adding timing and the horsepower kept dropping. He backed the timing way off and then the horsepower went up. Completely opposite of a GT.

To be fair, for the peanuts it cost its an ok bit of kit.

I took it another spin tonight. My auto box shifts a lot more firmer now and with a bit more conviction as opposed to the dull drone into the next gear so in that respect its been good. It seemed very lazy before. This is the first automatic car i`ve owned in 22 years so I can`t grumble. My last car was a Type R Accord so, chalk and cheese/night and day, so to speak.
I`ll see how it goes with a bolt on or two although I won`t hold my breath.

Their "canned" tunes, generic, whatever, are nothing special.

You can get some extra power by tweaking your timing advance if you feel comfortable doing so. Just play it by ear after you advance the timing. Do a test run, apply full throttle from lower RPM's (like 1800 on up) in 3rd or 4th gear to give the engine a load, and listen for knocking, pinging or anything like that. If so, back off the timing until it stops. But you really can only adjust so much with the Diablosport.

But by tweaking my timing and fuel curves on a dyno (just playing with the programmer), I gained 6.9rwhp and 13 lb ft.

As far as your shifts feeling better, be very careful with how firm you set them. Adjusting shift firmness via tuner is not the right way to do it, and can lead to accelerated transmission wear.
