Did Vortech just lower the price by $1200??

are the ati intercooled prochargers any good? they seem like they would be because you dont have to use your engine oil for the p1sc and its intercooled. anyone run these? ups? down?

The difference between a tuner kit and a full kit is you get no FMU, no BTM, no t-rex fuel pump and the hardware to mount them.

Pretty much just the blower and the hardware to mount it up. Nothing electrical at all...

FMU's can usually be recalibrated to different size injectors. But a lot of people including myself just run 42's with no FMU..

Mine cost me 2600 bucks last year at this time to get the tuner kit from Muscle motorsports, they were the only people to offer the tuner kit at the time for our cars.

I am partial to Prochargers, especially on our cars since you don't see a lot of them. The head units have a nasty reputation for leaking and it mounts on the driver's side which means you have to relocate the battery to the trunk. The bigger units can make gobs of power.

I would just go with the tuner kit and run 42's and a big pump. Then get it tuned. I would rather depend on my tune and hardware. If you're running the FMU with wimp-dick injectors and pump and the FMU fails; you're in trouble.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. I'd get the standard kit and sell the electronics on Ebay and use the money to get some injectors and a dyno-tune. I already have an Autologic chip that can be reflashed easily and I have a Walhbro 255lph high pressure pump thats sitting in the garage. Does the standard kit come with a chip of any kind also?

Noone has answered my question on power production. What would a reasonable estimation of rwhp gain be for 8psi from the V2 SQ & a good tune?

The BTM which i think stands for (Boost Timing Mananagement) acts as your chip. its an msd box which with more rpms/boost lowers timing.

on a somewhat stock car you can get 300 rwhp out of a blower. Now unstock it depends. I have heard of people making 500 rwhp on stock bottom end.

What's the difference between a V1 and and V2 ? (or whatever it's called)

I've heard the the SQ's don't need any feeds from the oil pan, is this true ?

And finally where do you take it for a tune ? would buying a chip be better ? Does the gas tank need any gaskets when your installing the gas pump ?

I might get a kit in 3 months, if everything goes smooth with my car.

The V2 SQ has a different gear design which makes the blower dang near silent except for a tiny whistle. The V1 is loud in comparison and I think has a slightly different 'step-up' as far as the gearing goes. I remember reading that awhile back, so dont take that as fact.

I believe both need to have an extrenal oil line from the oil pan tapped to feed the charger

I suggest taking it to a reputable speed shop in your area, and have them dyno-tune it and burn a chip. As far as the pump goes I dunno, I need to do the pump myself.

is the S-trim illegal on the street ?
Is their any difference in speed, or upgrading to more boost, later down road ?

Will I need bigger injectors if I opto, not go with the FMU ? or can I just slap the Super charger on my car, and pay for the tune and be done with it ?

The only way it would be illegal is if you dont pass emissions. I'mn 99% sure the S-trim has a CARB # for you cali people too. Check Vortech's site to be sure.

And you def need to get bigger injectors if you dont run the FMU. Most people seem to run 42's and tune it.

And that's the part I don't understand.

Riddle me this: In heads-up racing (NMRA Real Street in particular), why are Paxtons required to have a bigger pulley on the supercharger than any others (less boost)?

Just trying to start trouble....:D

Joe

b/c Paxton Superchargers are just better and will make more power w/ the same size pully :D The Novi 2000 is a monster blower

yeah i have that question also about will an fmu work with a modded car, say mine, i still have the stock injectors, with my explorer motor...would an fmu be good to me? that way i wouldent have to get it tuned!?

Its better to get bigger injectors and not run an FMU. Right now Im running #30 injectors w/ the FMU and Im running pretty rich so next summer when I get back to the dyno I'll tune it w/ the FMU off and run w/ out it. Regardless of having an FMU or not you should ALWAYS GET IT TUNED!!!!. Bolting on a Supercharger and saying.........ahhhh its all set Im good, not need to get a tune......is just stupid
