difference between 89&95 engines

I just finished swapping an 89 into a 94 (94 and 95 exactly the same)

Off the top of my head, the differences are-

Timing cover, water pump, harmonic balancer, crank pulley, ALL front accessories.

If you have the complete 95 engine still, that's good, cause you can use all your parts off it. If you're using the Fox intakes, you'll need the coolant tubes that go over the lower intake from a Fox (the ones that go to the heater core) and you'll need a little elbow for the upper intake. (BBK and Edelbrock make them) If using Fox valvecovers, you'll need to modify the oil filler tube, or your throttlebody won't fit on correctly.

If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a PM.

Stangfreak might have an electric water pump, but we dont get them stock. :)

The water pumps are different though.

Diablo, whatever happened with that oil slinger/lobe thingie on your swap?

Stangfreak, I actually thought you originally meant to talk about the elec fan (SN specific) and its lack of interface with the water pump (where the fox has that interface).

None of it matters - we knew what you meant. :nice: Half the stuff I post on here makes no sense, so I know the feeling of being tired and having your fingers type something other than what your brain was thinking. :)

timing cover is different. We have an electric water pump not like the fox. Use the 95 brackets for the accessories. I have a 91 engine in my 95.

EDIT: We dont have an electric wp. Dah ! I wrote something different than what I was thinking.

you might want to just delete that sentence all together to omit confusion instead of adding that last sentence.

As said before, acc brackets, timing cover/waterpump, electric fan. Our intake setup is different obviously, so you should retain the intake and TB setup from the 95 to eliminate problems.

89 is forged, 95 hyper = +2.

The dizzy on an SN does not have the TFI on the side of the dizzy (it's relo'd to the pass fender). The fox has the TFI on the dizzy.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that!

IMPORTANT!. Remove this peice (dogdish shaped peice) when you install your 95 Timing cover, or you'll ruin your engine. Simply remove the cam-bolt, take it off, and reinstall cam-bolt.
