Different Symptoms of ...

HI guys I was curious if you could help me with something. Can you tell me the differences between o2 sensors dying and the maf dying ? What would be the symptoms of each one dying ?

If the O2s died then you would be running lean or rich. No detection at the exhaust whatsoever for the computer wouldn't allow it to compensate therefore smoke would ensue most likely at the tips. If the MAF died then the computer wouldn't be able to tell how much air was coming in so the computer in turn would give incorrect amounts of fuel to be injected. Lots of hesitation, sputtering, and a serious loss of power. Had that problem once. Very scary sounding thing

Is there a way to test the MAF ?? With a volt meter or something like that ?? Or do you have to just try a different one ?

I don't have my manual with me but I'm sure there's way explained in a Hayne's or Chilton's manual. If you don't have one, do a search on here or online. I'm sure it will turn up. Also take it to Autozone and see if they won't swap it out for you on the spot just to check before you commit and pay for it. if not then you can always take it back afer you pay for it.
