Ditching my sound deadner...

Did a search, didn't really find what I was looking for. My car weighs about 3250 without me in it. That's with my jack, and spare, and all that good stuff. I want to remove my sound deadner, a guy at the track said there was some behind the door panels and such. Where do I need to start looking to ditch some dead weight? Should I toss the jute that is under the carpet too? Anyone that has done this, feel free to chime in...

The heavy sound deadening material is under the carpet in the back and there is some on the center counsil. I used a head gun and a scraper to get mine off. Search under weight and reduction but just the titles and you should come up with a lot of material for removing material.

Ditch the big rubber mounted squarish thingy on your differential. It's a sound deadener that cuts out harmonics based on the gear your car had in it from the factory. Once you change the gear ratio, you are just toting this thing around for no reason. I don't know what it weighs, but it looks pretty heavy.

removing ALL the sound deadner can result in a weight savings of up to 120 lbs that figure includes all the seam sealer, we have weighed it several times!!
