I recently got a tremec tranny, but believe it or not, my stock t-5 and king cobra clutch held togther fine on my car at 10lbs of boost..probably a bit over 400 rwhp.....but i knew it was a time bomb

Yeah, and that is why I am going to try to get next summer out of my tranny. Rio95 has been making around 525rwhp since his turbo and his tranny lasted about a year. Then he couldnt afford a built one so he just bought another stocker for like 300 bucks. Won't last terribly long, but 300 bucks for a year or more aint bad. I think its lasted over a year now.

Ok, I got the thing starter, however not with the key. I tested the starter and it was good. If you can, try and follow me now. There are 3 wires that run from the starter to the fuse box area. The postive, which goes to the fuse box, the negative, which is the ground, and the tiny black starter wire which plugs into a plug over by the fuse box. Then it heads towards the firewall to I beleive the clutch switch relay??

Anyways, the way I got it to start was pulling that starter wire plug apart and touching a wire to the inside of it and putting the other end on the postive terminal on the fuse box. So there is power up to that point. But after that like I said i think it heads to the clutch. I'm sure some of you guys will know this better than I. Any ideas?

On a postive note, it starts with some throttle and sounds sick. It's running open downpipe right now, so its pretty loud, but sounds cool. Im sure that decent sound will diminish with some load. As for the turbo, its pretty loud even over the exhaust and without load, just a rev to about 3 grand. Tonight I think rio95 is going to come over so we can set the timing and we are gonna throw his chip in there which is burned for the same setup mine is. Plenty safe tune with lots of fuel so it should be fine. Maybe a short ride will be possible later today with any luck.

For now I gotta know how to start it with a key though. Any ideas? Thanks guys.

Is it the safety switch on the clutch pedal you are talking about? It's the feature that you have to have the clutch pushed in to start the car. Guess the switch could be bad, or moved so it's not adjusted properly.

Yeah, that is the switch I am talking about. I have never heard of one going bad so I am doubting that is it, but there is power up to the point where it heads to that switch.

Can you test it by manually activating the switch? I have an AODE, so I haven't actually see one of these up close.

How do you do it?

On another note, alot happened tonight. Well, kinda. Rio95 came over and we set the fuel pressure and tried to adjust the tps and idle without alot of luck. I am going to have to drill out the tps holes because it cant rotate enough as is. That is actually what rio had to do with his. So we ran it for awhile holding the throttle and finally decided lets drive this thing. So, keeping the revs high because it dies almost instantly with no throttle, we took off around the block. The thing absolutely screams with the open down pipe and sounds awesome. I bet the neighbors loved that at 10 pm. Heard the blow off for the first time, which made me smile. Then the fun was over. The car died so we tried to start it again. Battery was dead. So we pushed it probably a quarter mile back to my house.

We didnt have a chance to throw rio's chip in so that will help, but for now I need to get the tps and idel squared awhile, get the battery recharged and try and figure out the whole starting problem. Any help would great!!

Does anyone know how to bypass the neutral safety switch on the clutch pedal? If there was one wire in one wire out I would obviously just splice the two but there are 4 wires going into it. So there must be two in two out? I dont know.

Unplug both connectors going to the safety switch, and throw a 20 amp fuse in each connector. You should be able to start it without the clutch then.

Right on. I will try that. Now if that does not solve the problem what is after that in the circuit of power? The ignition is the only thing left isn't it? Right now I have power up to the wire that heads to the clutch.

Well it is about to snow here and I am sick of the car for this year. I'm gonna cover it up and deal with it in the spring. I decided I am gonna fix the exhaust leak I have and the leaking power steering pump and then just trailer it over to the tuner and dump it off with them and tell them to make it run right, burn a chip, and dyno it. It will prolly be a good deal of money, but this thing is so far off tune right now I don't care. Then I will know the tune is solid and stuff.

That's all the pics I have for now. Right now the car is stored, but I will take a ton in the spring. However, ask any questions you like.

Refer to this thread. My buddy rio95 who's setup is just like mine put together a spreadsheet of all his prices. Not all of it applies, but it gives a good idea.

Just don't kid yourself into thinking you won't need hardly any of the right side of his list. Aside from his extra add ons like his clutch, wheel spacers, ring and pinion and such, you SHOULD if you are smart, get it all. All the ignition stuff etc.
