The design itself is very good.
The dip in the hood where the vents sit creates a low pressure area. This gives the rising heat under the hood a place to escape, and it's then carried away as the slope travels up the hood and meets the turbulence created by the outside air.
If the Cervini's is functional there's no reason it won't work as good. Their stuff is top notch, I'd be very surprised if it wasn't functional.
