do heat extractor hoods extract heat....

Are they functional, or only cosmetic. As hot as it is here (100 degrees)
I would get one if they actually do something......

Yes, they do as long as you buy one with functional vents. I imagine some cheap knockoffs won't actually be vented.

The hotter it is, the more it'd help I'd think.

I have an OEM cobra hood. After driving it I can feel heat coming out of the hood when it sitting from the vents, so I would say yes. Now I dont have a blower right there at the vents such as the cobras, but it def. works I would say. Not sure on the other ones

The design itself is very good.

The dip in the hood where the vents sit creates a low pressure area. This gives the rising heat under the hood a place to escape, and it's then carried away as the slope travels up the hood and meets the turbulence created by the outside air.

If the Cervini's is functional there's no reason it won't work as good. Their stuff is top notch, I'd be very surprised if it wasn't functional.
