I don't get a lot of stares but I've gotten my fair share of compliments in my '92. It's usually the guys in their 30-40's that used to own a 5.0 and are now rocking the suv/minivan. It never fails that they all regret selling it.

Several co-workers that see the '92 every day have also complimented me on it.

The only remarks I get regarding the '90 are "What does it run?" "What mods do you have?" "is that a cam?", and little boys yelling out of the backseat window "Burn rubber!"

I had a guy follow me off the freeway go out of his way to catch me at the light to tell me he liked my cars. I don't necessarily like that. Makes me uncomfortable.

I don't pay attention anymore. Unless it's some cute chick, i could care less who is next to me now.

Actually i'm exaggerating a bit. I look forward to going to get gas in my 5.0 because it's always good for getting a few people to come over and compliment it. My '03 GT just blended in with the 20 or so V6 mustangs you'd see every day, but I rarely see Foxes where i live so i usually look over and see someone tossing me a thumbs up or nice car or something every time i go for a cruise. I've even have a few business cards from people who asked if I wanted to sell it. I took them, but have no intention of selling it.

But i do feel with each passing year the general attitude is that i'm not "stuck driving an old car" anymore...but that i'm "driving a nice classic car". I can def feel it in the way people compliment it and ask me about it. You almost get the sense that they know my car is something i drive as a hobby.

I agree 100%.
There are those who ask "why would you want to drive that old thing, the new mustangs are way better", but i seem to run into more and more guys who appreciate it and understand that its more than just an old car. Its one of my favorite things about driving my car actually.

I do run into some pretty crazy "mustang enthusiasts" though. People at gas stations who have stories of the fox they have at home making 800hp and stories like that. Its funny to me that the car draws enough attention to get to talk to people like that.

WHere I live, we get what I call "the passing thru-ers". These are the guys you don't find on boards like SN.

They buy a "new" Mustang for the image and trendiness, beat the living snot out of it for a few years, do a few "questionable mods" and then dump the undermaintained car off and trade it in for a BMW or Lexus and then proceed to talk crap about Mustangs from there out.

With the new 5.0 coming out...i'm sure we'll see a bunch of them

ive seen quite a few of those type of guys around here. Theres a core group of car guys where i live and we all usually hang out on the weekends somewhere in town. There always seems to be a few guys who will buy a mustang or a z28 or something like that (to fit in and look cool i guess) then they realize theyve got no clue whats going on, rip the hell out of it, and like you said trade it for something their mothers would drive or worse, a 240. Im embarrassed for them sometimes, but it makes for a good laugh

I have come across people like that. "why do you drive that old car?"

Also came across guys who have a ZO6 or three and say love the 5.0 used to have one.

Gotten the dirty looks and thumbs down(from another mustang owner of all people)

"sounds mean", "what do you have under the hood? What cam is that?"

Best looks were driving around my family's 69 Chevelle, everything original.

ANY ONE have someone try to buy their car?????

Although my car's stock (down to the silencer!), the exhaust makes people think otherwise. I get a lot of looks in parking lots normally, that I never used to notice until my girlfriend brought it up to me that, after riding in my car through a parking lot, the line of stares just seems to be drawn to the Rustang!

I DID run around on open headers for 2 weeks once. That led to A LOT of stares on the road, questions in parking lots, etc, etc. That was a lot of fun. Just reminds me, every time I see someone looking, why Mustang owners get such a close relationship with their cars.

I'm that guy lol. I love Fox Mustangs and i love to see them stock or modified. Its interesting to what others have done. I always go out of my way when i see them. And i rarely see them in my neck of the woods. Maybe 10 each summer? Not that many.
