when my friend "powershifts" in his 03gt he does it without the clutch... is he just an ass or is the whole idea?

If he claims that when hes racing, at 6000 RPM he is pulling it into the next gear with no clutch, he is lying to you, no other way around it, it will NOT go in gear without a clutch (or the right tranny).

With the same driver, powershifting vs not is about a tenth, maybe 2. Comparing two different drivers, easily 2+ tenths could be had, depending on who is driving and who is powershifting it. I have taken keys from car owners gone out and gone 3+ tenths faster on my first pass than them... bad drivers and slow shifting can KILL 1/4 mile times!

Hmm, My low 13 high 12 second car on radials was easily powershifted at the track in every gear. I guess 245/45/17 Flaken tires are decent???

My car actually grabs very close to the floor, but it has never been right. Car was an AOD that we swapped a T5 in, and for some reason never felt like a stock T5 equipped car. Maybe thats why my dads 91 was easier to shift when stock?

My car cut a 1.905 60' on those same tires, but for a 16" pony rim. Bone stock suspension, just gears, full exhaust, intake, and some other little bs in my sig.

Hmm for being a really cheap tire, maybe they were alright? I personally had no issues driving the car hard and losing traction (well to a point). I just find it weird when a 13.9 car running 98 mph cant hook through 3rd, and my 12.0 car running 107 mph spins only a little (at the track, the street is another story)!

Im glad Im the one hooking, :D!

There a good tire for the price, but there not great. Once you learn to launch em there pretty good. The track prep I had though was excellent. I probably couldn't duplicate em again, but a 1.90 on 80 dollar tires is impressive if you ask me. They also showed no signs of breaking loose. Now when they do break loose in first, it's gonna be a smoke show lol. At rockingham, which isn't as good as piedmont (the track I done the 1.90) I ripped through first, second, and half of third with nothing but spin lol. It was fun until I seen the 15.x light up lol. If I get my drag radials and skinnies in time, I may head back to rockingham and go for 13.50's. Considering I had a better run until I hit antifreeze than my 13.80 run, I think 13.50s are easily within reach with nothing more than a better hooking tire.

I used to power shift. Till the second gear synchro went out on me. The sad this is I have two transmissions. One in storage. I just havent had the chance to put it in. Well, I have but f*** it. I going to drive with the one in there. Until it falls out on the street. Then I'll tow the car home and put the other one in. And put that one in storage. I'm saving for a Tremec anyway.

Before the 4.10s I used to powershift all the time. That's probably the ONE thing I miss about the stock 3.08. I miss the feeling of nailing the 1-2nd gear powershift. Now I don't bother to powershift 1-2nd . On street tires it'd be a waste. 2nd-3rd I'll still powershift sometimes. Like when I find myself in a close race and need every inch. Guess it depends on the situation.
