I've heard alot of people say you lose hp from adding flowmasters on a car. Based on there chambered mufflers and not a straight thru design. Can someone clarify this. If they do than I want to switch to a borla, magnaflow, or bassani cat-back

you don't lose hp you just dont gain as much as the other manufacturers you listed. so you have to find dyno restuts for flows and then the catback you chose to know the hp difference.

i've heard that u might lose a couple lbs of torque at low rpms but u also gain hp at high rpms. i dont think it is true that you lose hp because they are flowing better than the stock ones and no one would prolly have them if you lose hp with them

What HOG said. You don't really lose power, just don't gain as much as others. The New Super 40's, however, are supposed to flow better than the old Flows and offer more power

its true that you gain more from strait through designs but I persoannly would give up 1 or 2 hp for the sound that flows give.

I swapped my stock mufflers with Flowmaster 40 series mufflers. After driving for a while I noticed that it did give me some extra power on the street. I cant give track time differences cuz i didnt race until after I got the flows. They sound great! and would go with flows again. Do plan on adding an O/R or high flow H-pipe once I get back to the states. My friend has that and it sounds bad as hell!!!!. Check out this site for some sound clips. www.mustangexhaust.com Has sound clips of MANY different types and combinations of exhaust.

in summary, GET THE FLOWS-YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!!!!

I didn't really notice a difference, even if there is a diff, it won't make a diff.

I put in 40 series flowmasters along with a K&N air filter . I lost some low end torque. I do not think I lost hp. I think I gained on top end. Its not a large amount. It just drives different after you change the mufflers. you will feel it if you know your car good.

Just the flowmasters and my off-road bassani x pipe gave me 2 miles an hour in the 1/4 mile. Not to mention with them the engine revs quicker. I like my flows, the only complaint I have is the metallic cracks that it does when you let off the gas at high RPM.
