with my blowering making 9 lbs with my combo all the car does is fry the tires.
its starting to take a toll on my tires.

i am wanting to swap out my 3.90s for 3.55s i have for a while now but just havent done. it i think it will be a good change. i dont think it will cure tirespin completely but i think it could make it a bit easier to keep the car from spinning them so bad like i'm on ice. PLUS it would make each gear last a little longer. thats another think the car just get to the top of 4th gear in no time flat and then i have to slow down.

people i have talked to say its going to kill my car. make if feel like a dog and hurt me at the track.

i can see it losing some at the track but i am willing to give that up for some more fun on the street. i think it would help.

just seeing if anyone has done the same thing and if it helped or not. i thought about 3.73s but thats hardly a change and IMO a waste of time making such a small ratio change.

I'd say definitely go for it, with more HP you can goto a lesser gear ratio and it will do nothing but benefit you .. I'm assuming the people telling you it will kill your car have weak motors and can only spin the tires with 4.10s :D

There is a very small difference in performance. I like those gears for a blown car...

You could also put that money towards suspension.

hehe i have already bought upper/lower arms, drag springs and drag shocks/struts and SFCs also not much left to get

thanks for the opinions guys i think i will do it. it will also give me a chance to get my speedo calibrated correctly. i need a new cable plus i couldnt find any speedo gears for my 3.90s

BTW what speedo gear with i need with 3.55s i believe the drive gear on my t5s tailshaft is black or some dark color. its not the yellow one. LRS has a chart that only gives 83-89 and 90-93, they didnt give the colors so i am lost.

1900+ posts, and you still don't know you need to tell us what size tires you're running to get an accurate answer to that question?:nonono:
If it is a black drive gear, then it's a 6-tooth. If it's green, it's an 8-tooth gear.

6-tooth drive gear: If your tires are between 25" and 26" tall, you'll need a 17-tooth (white) driven gear.

8-tooth drive gear: Tires from 25" - 26" tall will require a 23-tooth (also white) driven gear.

Post count does not mean anything. There is a TON of information I have no clue about. Then there is some that I know a little bit about.

FoxFan - Are you running with drag radials? I'm glad you got a little bit of suspension work done:)

my street tires currently are just some 255-60-15s they are getting a little bald they just spin on the street they are 27" tall

before the blow i added the control arms, springs and shocks and struts i had the car HOOKING real good on the street with street tires. once i added the blower it just lights them up now.

at the track i havent had any problems hooking at all. i have been running 26x10.5 MT etstreets. last time i was at the track with 6 psi it was crossing the traps at like 6100 RPM. with the car making 9 psi and making more power i am sure it will hit the rev limter. i could grab a taller tire and get the rpms down a bit but i may need gears.

i'm mostly looking for some help with traction on the street, so i can have some fun with the car, i cant really lay into it until 3rd gear. alot of people tell me it will make the car gutless but i dont think it will. i only see it helping me, make a little easier to keep the car hooked and make each gear last a bit longer so i can actually enjoy the boost/suck you back into the seat sensation, rather than it just revving up super fast and then i have to shift.

i also have a cobra spec t5 with higher gear ratios. 2.95 first and the higher OD. so first would stretch out pretty good and i could get some excellent cruising rpms with the higher OD.

i dont want it to kill it at the track though.... do you think it would lose some 60' at the track?? what else should i expect to see change at the track.

the 3.90s worked great when i was N/A but now that the engine is making alot more power it doesnt need the help of low gears to get it moving. the low gears do nothing now but limit the car, at least its how it feel.the car can pull to the moon but the gears wont allow it lol
