I need a 4 door full size car. I personally don't like the Maxima becaue it looks ugly and it is not a full size car. I was also looking at the Accord, but the Accord is smaller in size and underpowered when compared to the Charger SXT. I still like the Charger because you get a lot of room and power for the money. The Charger also has the "Lifetime Powertrain Warrany" which the Maxima and the Accord do NOT have. Plus, the Charger looks a lot sharper and much nicer than the Maxima and Accord.

Your on crack dude, Maxima's and Accords are a hellava lot nicer then the Charger. Not as much room, but just as powerful. The Maxima V6 has almost 300hp. I have looked at all of them with my wife for her. The Accords are alot nicer on the inside the the charger ever was or is. The Charger has them all beat on room though, but its a huge boat. Not really nicer looking kinda ugly.

It's all kinda personal preference on what car looks better. Personaly I'm a nissan fanatic and as soon as the stang is no longer a DD my daily will either be a Nissan or older Jeep Cherokee. Anyway I would not buy a V6 Charger because I used to work for Chrysler and I know that the imports are typically a better made car. That being said, we also covered almost anything under warranty as long as it wasn't modded. So Hey if you fall in love with the Dodge, by all means get it, but don't rule out everything else till you test the waters.

I agree with you that the Maxima and the Accords might be a little better quality than the Dodge Charger. I know that. But I don't feel that I should spend no more than $27,000 for a fully loaded car. I could be wrong here, but I think that the fully loaded Maxima and the fully loaded Accord with leather and with the 6 cylinder engine "without" the sunroof and without the Navigation system was OVER $30,000+. I don't care for the sunroof and for the Navigation system. But YES, the Maxima and the Accord are probably better quality than the Dodge Charger SXT. No doubt about that. But I don't feel that I should be spending over $27,000 for a car like that. It's a waste of money for me.

The other thing is that I do NOT like the styling of the Maxima and the Accord. They are too round looking and they look like everything else that is on the road today. They look like every other "GENERIC" car that is on the road. Please understand that I am from the Baby Boom Generation and back in the 60's and early 70's cars looked much better in styling than a lot of the cars that are designed and built today. The Maxima and the Accord might be excellent quality cars, but their styling does NOT impress me at all. Plus, they are a LOT SMALLER than the Dodge Charger SXT. The Dodge Charger SXT has much nicer styling than the Maxima and the Accord. And the Charger has some of the styling queues from the 68-70 Charger. I just do NOT like roundish looking cars and I do NOT want to spend more than $27,000 for a fully loaded 6 cylinder car. That's why I made the decision to order and to buy the Charger if my Mustang is totalled by the insurance appraiser. Maybe if the Maxima and the Accord looked nicer and cost less, I would have definitely considered buying one.

the dodge "lifetime warrenty" is kind of a joke.. they dont cover many moveable parts.. like the driveshaft, oil pan, bellhousing and stupid things like that...

I don't care about those things. Before my Charger has 3 Years/36,000 miles on it I will purchase the Bumper to Bumper 100,000 Warranty for it. I intend to keep this car for many years if I can. Also, I like the fact that the "Unlimited Powertrain Warranty" will NEVER expire as long as I am the original owner of the car which I intend to be. Try having the Accord and Maxima or any of the other Japanese or Korean automakers beat that type of warranty. Nobody can.

I can argue that statement with you. Most of the imports that are manufactured right now are "NOT" imports. They have the Honda, Nissan, Hyundai, Mercedes and BMW badges on them and they are built here somewhere in the Unites States. I know very well that a lot of Toyota cars are built in the U.S. and they all have "quality issues". For example, the new 2007 and 2008 Camry has numerous transmission problems. The new 2008 Accords have electrical problems. If these particular cars were all built in Japan they would have NO PROBLEMS at all. That's another reason why I do not want to buy a Toyota or a Honda. i do not like the fact that they are all builtr here in the U.S. and that they all have quality and mechanical issues. If you don't believe me just look at the forums on www.edmunds.com and you will see all of the disatisfied people who own a Camry and and Accord who are having multiple problems with their Amerasian cars (Japanese and Korean cars which are built in America). Then take a look at the Dodge Charger forums. Most of the people who own the V6 and the V8 Dodge Charger are completely satisfied with their cars. This is another BIG factor in why I decided to buy the Dodge Charger.

How about the new Hyundi Genesis? It's a 4-door equipped with 375hp. Suppose to compete with BMW's and Benz. Just a poor man's version, like 300's are to Bentley's.

Our family already owns a Hyundai Santa Fe. Hyundai is no doubt an excellent car if it is still built in Korea. As for the Genesis, it looks like a Lexus and Mercedes. I do not particularly like the styling of the Lexus and Mercedes cars. Again, they all look too generic and roundish looking. And you cannot differentiate them on the road from a Toyota, a Lexus, a Mercedes, and a Hyundai. They all look alike. I do not like that. Plus, I am very weary of the Japanese and Koreans building their cars over here in the U.S.. Most American made Japanese and Korean cars have quality issues. If I wanted to have quality issues on a car I would buy American instead and also pay much less money for my American car than I would for a American built Japanese or a Korean car. At least I would know that an American car will have some quality issues. As for Japanese and Korean cars, I will NEVER buy one as long as they are built here in the United States. Period.

Looks like you did just that. Enjoy the Charger:)

the stang is dunski.

dont get a v6 charger. waste of money. if you're going to get a charger, at least get the 5.7L. no point in buying a big blocky tub of lard thats slow and is going to break down in half the time of a honda or toyota

Yeah its totaled but it could still be fixed. I know a lot of people that buy totaled out cars and fix them up, you car doesn't look as bad as some of the ones I've seen.

This is the basis for my opinion.... someone could, if they choose to, fix it. As mike wrote, I've seen worse come out of an auction and on the road in a few months....

As far as your new car, happy shopping!

I love the 5.7 liter and the 6.1 liter V8 Hemi, but I need my Charger for my work and getting the V8 does not make sense financially and it is not economically feasable for me. I need something that will get around 20 to 24 mpg overall in mileage. The 5.7 liter and the 6.1 liter V8 Hemi are huge gas guzzlers. They burn gas in the low teens.

The 3.5 liter V6 is just right for me. I drove a 1 year old used Charger that had the 3.5 liter V6 in it and it was powerful enough for me with the 250hp that it had in it.

As for the Charger breaking down half the time of a Honda or a Toyota you are VERY WRONG about this. Take a look at Edmunds.com and go into the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord forums on that website. You will see that a lot of people who own the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord are experiencing BIGTIME problems with their cars. The Toyota Camry has mechanical issues with the transmission and with the quality of the fit and finish. And the Honda Accord has electrical issues with it's electrical system. So please don't tell me that the American built Toyota Camry and the American built Honda Accord are BETTER than the Dodge Charger. Lots of stupid people who purchased the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord are having nothing else but nightmares with both of these models. Toyota and Honda quality for any of their cars which are currently being built here in the U.S. is atrocious. And the posts in the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord forums at www.edmunds.com proves that. Wake up!!

Looks like you did just that. Enjoy the Charger:)

Believe me, the Dodge Charger has many fewer quality problems than the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord. Like I mentioned in my previous post here, Go to www.edmunds.com and check out the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord forums there. You will see clear proof that the stupid idiots who all purchased the Camry and the Accord thinking that these cars are excellent quality got a very rude awakening. They are having nothing but problems with these cars. The forums don't lie. Also, a lot of people get the impression that Japanese cars are better quality than American cars. This is ONLY true for Japanese cars that are built 100% in Japan like the Lexus and the Maxima and the Infinity. Most cars that are built in Japan are excellent quality vehicles with high build standards. But I cannot say the same thing for American built Japanese cars like the Camry and Accord. Most of them have build quality issues, mechanical problems and electrical problems.

Hey dude, whatever makes you happy. Just remeber that you are surrounded by people where the car is just never fast enough, so of course we would all go for the big motor. Enjoy your new car!

I would go for the bigger motor too, but unfortunately I go out on the road a lot for my job and I need something that is more economical than a 5.7 liter or 6.1 liter V8. If gasoline wasn't that expensive, I would probably go for the V8 Hemi Charger R/T or the SRT8.

By the way, as far as I know, the insurance appraiser has not gone out to see my car yet. Whichever moron wrote out the insurance report put down that my Mustang was at the wrong garage. This mistake has already caused a 1 to 2 day delay in the insurance appraiser not being able to look at my car yet. So right now, I am hoping that the insurance appraiser will go out to see my car today which is Friday. When I spoke to the insurance company 2 days ago, they told me that they will try to speed things up because of the 3 days that was lost during this week from Monday thru Wednesday because of the screwup about the location of where my car is at. I am now getting all worried with anticipation. I hope that the insurance appraiser will total my Mustang.

I don't want to have to fix and then have to drive a car with all that body and frame damage on it. At least, I "THINK" that it has frame damage to it. From the pictures that I posted here, the lower passenger side frame rail ( I think that's what you call it) that's just behind the horizontal bumper bar looks like it is pushed upwards and then pushed diagonally towards the front of the engine. But I don't know how far it is pushed upwards and how far it is pushed diagonally towards the front of the engine? The hood is stuck shut so there's no way for me to check inside the engine bay to see what type of frame damage occurred. Also, I noticed a crease/fold on the upper right hand side frame rail (the top part of the frame which the front right fender bolts on to). I saw the crease/fold while I was trying to peek inside the small gap that the hood has from the passenger side right fender. I was only able to fit my fingers inside that area and just below the crease/fold it looks like there is a 1" inch rip or tear on the upper part of the frame rail. I can see the crease/fold and part of the tear with my own eyes, but without the hood open I cannot tell how bad it is. I am wondering whether or not the crease/fold and small tear on the upper right frame rail and whether or not the lower frame rail damage that is seen in the pictures is enough damage for the insurance company to total my 2002 Mustang V6??

FWIW the airbags cost something like $1000 per - when I had my accident the insurance company sure as hell wasn't going to go for that (both deployed). If you're lucky they'll cut you a check for more than you bought the car for:p

What matters is that you made it out alright.

Well, both of the airbags inside my car deployed and went off. I'm hoping that both airbags will be very expensive and that they will add on to the rest of the damage on my Mustang.

Seriously, rest easy because the car is a goner. Start shopping around for the best price on your charger. But obviously don't pull the trigger untill you have the final say. You've had almost every single person that has responded to this thread saying its totaled.

I just got the call from my insurance company a little while ago. They said that my Mustang is a total loss and that it is totalled.:nice: :D

The next step is for me to negotiate a good market value price for my car and then start looking around for the best deal on another brand new vehicle.

See told ya, rest easy. Good luck man

Thanks man.
I am going to be calling my insurance company this morning to find out what they are willing to give me for my totalled Mustang. I hope that I can get at least $10,000 for it. I looked in NADA and in KBB and I come out with 2 different "Retail Value" figures. The lowest is $9,350 and the highest is $10,385. I hope I can get $10,000 or better for it. It was in excellent condition.

My car has only 49,300 miles on it and it has the 5 speed manual with leather and the "premium package". I purchased the car brand new back in January 2002.
