Does a stall converter always slip?

The article below talks about he Torque Multiplication Factor the stator in the TC produces. It also gives an overview of the TC. I read some articles like this before going to Edge. I am no expert by far, but I don't think the clutches in the stock AODE can handle the torque produced by an aftermarket 9" TC (with a high TMF). If I had it to do over again, I would have rebuilt the tranny with heavy duty clutches and installed the new TC with the rebuilt tranny. My opinion. Maybe one of these smarter guys and add a little something. Hope this helps. Later
