About a week ago it was late at night and it had just rained and I was going to the grocery store, so I get to the parking lot and it was empty. So I decided to do a couple of donuts on the wet pavement. At the end of the second donut, I heard this loud sort of snapping noise under the car. After that the car seemed fine ... until yesterday.

Now there is a noise like something is rattling around in the clutch or transmission. Mostly hear it the first few times I let the clutch out. After I have been driving around for a while it stops. It also seems to happen if I am pointing downhill and I back up.

What could it be?

Mine did that one day after I did a burnout, but it sounded like it was coming from the rear axle. I took off the rear wheel, couldn't find a problem, and the next time I drove it was fixed I did have the same problem you are having though!

possibly the u-joint, i had some problems with mine, & had similar symptoms. i replaced it & it was all better. but you also might look at your tranny mounts kinda hard of diagnose like this this, but those would prolly be a good place to start looking

well, yesterday it didn't make the noise anymore after the first few times i let the clutch out in the morning. today it did not make the noise at all. it makes me nervous ... i almost rather that it did it every time. at least then i'd know what to expect.
