Double Salt and Pepper Shakers

I also had two sets of the ten pin connectors, but I just ook one set off for the hell of it. no problems here.

I've seen that once before too. I asked about it but the guy who owned the car didn't have a clue about them either. 
It was a recall.
WHen the motor torque it used to loosen up the 1 pair of shakers. When they get loose, the idle hangs and the engine acts all funky. As a recall, ford put an extension harness.
You can remove the extension harness if you want. Less connections to mess up and less clutter
I beleive the recall started in '89 and up. My car never had them
