Allright i know a little, but i want to know more, i have a few questions, i think i have the front down pact, 6 cyl springs, roller perches (im getting mine from open tracker at the end of the month) but what shocks are the best?, arent lakewoods 90/10 front drag shocks the best to go with??? i want to lower the front a LITTLE, so will the 6 cyl springs do this???? also is it better to buy the 6 cyl springs new or used?????? But for the rear im lost :bang:

I despertly need to stiffin and raise the rear end alot, i have 275/60/15 tires on the back (and thats the size drag radials im getting), and i scrape a little if i hit the slightest bump. I know the leafs are stock and worn. But i dont want to buy stock leafs and have it only raise a half an inch, If i bought the 1 1/2 inch raising springs would this effect the launch? good or bad? Or is there a different better way to raise the rear???? I have lakewood universal traction bars on the car now, are cal tracs the better way to go??? What are the best drag shocks to use in the rear???? Im 19, and dont give a rats ass about ride quality lol, all i care about is that 60 foot time getting lower :rlaugh:

So please help a brotha out and list the best suspension setups for drag racing :spot:

Lowering the front and raising the rear may be counter productive. Most stock class racers have their car sitting about level, and not any lower than the way they came. Stiff springs and caltracs for the rear seem to be the general trend. If you have some worn out shocks for the front, they should work fine.

its been a long time since i did any drag racing, but you want the car as level as you can get it. you have the right way to go on the front suspension, at the rear, besty you try to tuck the tires into the wheelwell if you can, otherwise raise the car a bit to clear. the old time prostock cars did exactly that, just remember that the more you raise the rear end, the worse the car tends to handle on the track, as it tends to get real loose off the line. you can eliminate much of that if you also use air shock, and dual lines, so you can add pressure to one side to load the right rear. this will give you better overall traction as it preloads the right rear tire and counters the engines torque.

I have learned lately it has a lot to do with how much torque the rear wheels will see. I can tell you what won't work if you have 400+ of rear wheel torque. When I get rid of my wheel hop I should be able to go back to a 60' time of 1.62. I have only stock components up front to achieve this.

1) 6 cyl spring up front will be good
2) I run the 3 way adjustable shocks from summit up front, they seem to do well
3)ditch the sway bar when you're at the track. It really helps the front end to rise, that means more weight to the rear
4)move the battery to the trunk
5) I run stock replacement 4 leafs in back, with 1" aluminum lowering blocks and heavy duty shackles from mustangs unlimited (with poly bushings)
6) not sure about rear shocks, I'm still running KYB's and the car seems to like them, I have some summit 3 ways but haven't put them on yet (and don't know if I will)
7) I'm happy with my cal-tracs.

Overall, the cars rides pretty good. With the sway bar attached it still handles decent. Ride height is about 1.5" lower than stock, and it sits level.

2.03 from my little 225/60/15's, LOL. I think it can do better though. I think I can get a 1.95 or better from these. The last time I went to the track my buddy went with me (4 time super pro track champion), and he said the car looked real good at the launch. The front suspension would extend 4-5 inches and stay up most of the way down the track, and the rear would just barely squat. I think I'm gonna need more power to get into the 1.8's. I run a PA built C4 and an ATI 10" 3500 stall converter. The engine is pretty mild right now, I should be able to get some 8.70's once I get my valvetrain sorted out ( I'm having to shift too early).

I'll go ahead and warn you, whatever you think your car will run, add at least a half second, LOL. They're never as fast as you think!
