WILL A 275/60-R15 FIT UNDER A 99GT. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANYONE IS RUNNING THIS TIRE BECAUSE OF RUBBING CONCERNS. IF ANYONE IS WHAT DRAG RADIAL IS THE MOST POPULAR IN THIS SIZE. I WAS THINKING ABOUT GETTING THE BFG'S.
According to BF Goodrich's website, the 275/60/15 is 28 inches in diameter. That's gonna really hurt you, unless you need the extra diameter because you're bouncing off the rev limiter at the traps.
I like the thought of a 15" drag radial versus the 275/40/17 drag radial that most folks break axles with (me included) as the 15" tire will have more sidewall deflection. It looks like the 275/50/15 would be a better choice for you, as it has a 26.1" diameter. That should fit no problem-o. Stock tire diameter on the 245/45/17 is 25.7", so this should be a pretty good match.
Well I am making a good bit of power. If the 275/60's will work I would rather have them because I have a 8 inch weld rim and thats what they call for.
Again, the 28" diameter will hurt you unless you have enough gear that you need a larger diameter tire - like 4.30s or 4.56s. Look at the link and it will show you:

BTW, if you've got a 5-speed, hard launches with this kind of tire is a crap shoot. The recommended upgrades to prevent a trip into the wall courtesy of a broken axle are:
I put a d/s loop on mine just in case . . . for the $45 it cost me, it was cheap insurance . . . better control arms and shocks are also a good idea to minimize wheel hop.
If you're in an auto, you should be OK with the stock goodies as the launch isn't nearly as violent as with a 5-speed.
